Now that the great event has taken place (our copy for the February issue had to be in beforehand), we can give you more details on our Annual Dinner at the Merion Cricket Club, Thursday evening, January 26.
Athletic Director "Red" Rolfe made it this year. (Last year he was hospitalized.) He gave us an interesting talk on college athletic policies and team prospects. There were 158 persons on hand - alumni with wives, dates, and guests, and some parents of undergraduates.
The Class of 1928 again carried off the cup (and champagne) for the class with the largest number of members present - although there were several classes fast on their heels this time. The '28ers also provided us with a band for dancing following the dinner.
Additional appointments: Membership, Vice-President Binney Tower '43; Publicity, Dick Lippmann '42, Executive Board member. Al Gschwind '52 was reappointed "Program" Chairman. Al claims he's been demoted, that the job used to be called "Entertainment" Chairman.
In the entertainment line, a stag night of movies and cards has been tentatively scheduled for Friday, April 13. You'll get more details in the mail.
Dues notices have been out for a month now. If you haven't sent in your check yet, do it today! This is our 50th Anniversary Year, and we'd like to see a big jump in membership. While you're at it, how about joining the growing group of loyal sons of Dartmouth at the Princeton Club, Camac and Locust Sts., Mondays at noon.
We are sorry to note the passing of Elva Hagy, beloved wife of John Hagy '42, the latter part of last year, of polio.
At the annual dinner of the Philadelphia Club held January 26 at the Merion Cricket Club, those at the head table included (1 to r): Sam Roberts '51, Executive Board member; Bill Miller '46, retiring Secretary; Binney Tower '43, Vice President; Buck Mansfield '44, retiring President; Red Rolfe '31, main speaker; Tom Bryant '18, President; Russ Dilks '51, Secretary; Dick Lippmann '42, Executive Board member.
