Sid Stoneman was honored by the College at the Greater Boston Alumni meeting on April 4. For his service to his community and to his college, he was given the Dartmouth Alumni Award. Those who were present to see Sid receive this well deserved honor included: Miriam, Page and Marj Worthington, Vin Merrill, John and Jean Meek, Cliff and Sally Johnson, John and Charlene Scanlon, Arch and Dolly Lade, Hal and Polly Hackett, Dan and Thelma Rollins, Wes and Jan Beattie, Norm and Marg Erlandson, Whit and Ginney Kimball, and their son Richard '68 now at the University of Buffalo, Harry Hardy, Bob Mitchell, John and Kathlene Thompson, George and Eloise Rideout, Ed Knapp, Sam and Carol Gass, Alvin and Ann Strock, and Jeff and Bea Davis.

Wes Beattie was also recognized for the tremendous job he did last year as our head agent. He was awarded the James B. Reynolds Trophy.

the class won the attendance cup for the third year in a row. Our Glee Club director Dan Rollins had us all well rehearsed (at the class cocktail party prior to the meeting) so we stood and sang: "Men of Dartmouth look and see, we're the class of '33."

Last year in June, the University of Columbia bestowed upon Paul Zamecnik the degree of Doctor of Science honoriscausa. Part of the citation stated, "Teacher, physician, and scientist, your pioneering work on the mechanism of protein biosynthesis has opened doors and pointed the way for others."

Hoby Van Deusen wrote from New York: "We had a wonderfully successful Explorers Club Annual Dinner—68th. During the introductions and awards part of the program I had the pleasure of introducing my friend Perry Gilbert '34. We had a turnout of 1200 men. (Ed. Note: Hoby is this year's president.) Dawn and I are off to St. John (Virgin Islands) for two weeks of scuba diving and bird watching— our first real vacation in several years."

U. S. Representative Hank Smith is caught up in the redistricting of New York State. He is seeking his fifth term in his district which now includes Niagara County and northern Erie County to which is being added Orleans County and three towns in Monroe County. The Rochester Times-Union says "He sort of fits the part of Jimmy Stewart in 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.' He knows how to take care of people in his district when they have problems with the federal government."

I have been under the impression that Norm Erlandson had retired, but I learned recently that he is selling for Speedrack Inc.

Ed and Peg Knapp celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a two week vacation in Mexico City and Guadalajara. They have a new daughter, Sandra Van Buren of Davenport, Wash. She and Ron '65 were married in Carmel, Calif, on February 19 and they are now living in the San Francisco area.

Bonnie Louise, daughter of Al and AnnStrock of Newton Center and Vineyard Haven, was married on March 26 to Claude Kress Williams Jr. The wedding took place in the Gordon Chapel of the Old South Church in Boston.

"Cupe" Farmer, who is president of the Board of Trustees of St. Johnsbury Academy, was honored by his town by having a street in one the newer residential developments named in his honor. It is to be known as Farmer Drive.

Mrs. Stan Colla recently wrote: "Please convey our heartfelt thanks to the class for their very thoughtful tribute in memory of Stan. Coleman, Stan Jr. and I are most grateful for the gift of a book to be given to Baker Library and consider it a most worthwhile memorial. Stan was an avid reader and loved anything connected with history (being a history major while at Dartmouth). He loved his books so well that they were read and reread—loaned to many—but rarely given away. So, to us as a family, your gift of a book is greatly appreciated."

Last year we led our Green Derby group throughout the entire Alumni Fund. Unfortunately this year we have not been in first place. Currently we are in fourth place but I hope by the time this reaches you this will be rectified. Please make sure your gift has been made including the 15% increase as requested.

Please mark your calendar for our fall reunion at the Norwich Inn on Saturday October 14 following the Princeton game. Also please keep in mind that a year from now we will all be in Hanover celebrating our 40th reunion. Bill Dewey will again be our reunion chairman and you know what a great job he always does.

My special thanks to those of you who have contributed news during this past year. So long for now and have a wonderful summer!!
