The annual dinner of the St. Louis Dartmouth Club was held at the University Club on February 24. There was a good attendance of alumni, wives and guests. President EdSpiegel '42 presided.
The guests of honor were Dean Arthur Upgren of Tuck School and Mrs. Upgren. They arrived here after overcoming considerable obstacles, inasmuch as the plane on which they were traveling was grounded at Terre Haute, and it was necessary for them to catch a train from there to St. Louis, to arrive in the nick of time.
The Dean proved to be a most enlightening and entertaining speaker. His subject pertained to his views on the prospective economic conditions of the country on the occasion of the Dartmouth bi-centennial, which is to take place in 1969; and while he concluded that we will have prosperity at that time, he arrived at that conclusion only after many humorous diversions, which required great mental dexterity on the part of the audience in following the theme.
It was a most enjoyable occasion, and was certainly one of the best annual dinners the Club has had in recent years.
