Most graduates remember best the blue days in Hanover when the lush green of spring and the white cover of the snow stand out against the clear North Country skies. But I think the days that most typify Hanover as unique in natural beauty are the wet autumn days, of which we've had many lately. The skies are ominously grey with puffy low clouds that seem to move quickly past Baker Tower. The elms bend and send their leaves into the air. The rust-colored leaves fly recklessly for awhile then float down to the ground where they glisten after the passing showers. Even the students at center campus, intensely interested in the outcome of fraternity touch football matches, pause to appreciate.

This season passes all too soon; a forerunner to the cold Canadian blasts and the snow we all look for at about Carnival time but not too soon before then - except for the most avid schussers. But this is to come; now it's time for news of '52:

Cornelius McMahon has left Kimball Union Academy for a post at The Hill School in Pennsylvania. Gene and Judy Cesari are now living in Ambler, Penna., where Gene is attending the University of Pennsylvania, working on the last leg of his Ph.D. Gene was at Clarkson College last year as an instructor.

Al and Adrienne Bond have moved from Thetford, Vt., where Al taught in the high school there, to Atlanta, Ga., where he is studying for his doctorate at Emory University. Percy Crosby has been appointed assistant professor of geology at George Washington University in the nation's capital. Percy has taught at Harvard and also is working on his Ph.D.

Bill and Dicki Thomas are now living in the Boston area where Bill is attending Harvard Medical School. He completed his two-year work in Hanover in June.

Dort Bigg, my vote for the biggest news item in New Hampshire, is now in private practice in Manchester with the firm of Wiggin, Nouris, Sundeen, Nassikas and Pingree. For the past seven or so months Dort had been assistant attorney general for New Hampshire. Jim Wright, another '52 lawyer, is with the Boston law firm of Hutchins and Wheeler.

Sticking to the legal profession, Buzz Barton has been appointed an assistant district attorney for Middlesex County in the Bay State. Buzz, who is married to the former Norma Ann Green of Evanston, Ill., formerly was in practice for himself in Everett, Mass.

Jet pilot Drew Sleeper, now an Air Force captain, has been shifted from duty in Japan to the 7th Bomb Wing at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas. Ardie Epranian started a new job with Manifold Supplies Company of Brooklyn, N. Y., in July. He's executive assistant to the executive vice president.

Dr. Les Bauer, now in practice of internal medicine at the Wenatchee Valley Clinic, Wenatchee, Wash., is on the lookout for classmates within 200 miles. Object: A '52 evening.

John Doty has left the telephone company in Ohio and is now with Braniff International Airways in Dallas, Texas, where he is an administrative assistant in the economic research and planning department. He commutes from Fort Worth each day (eighty miles!) and will until his new home is completed in February. Whew!

General Electric is moving Lyle Spaulding from Schenectady, N. Y., south to Appliance Park in Louisville, Ky. Lyle is a specialist in auditing and distribution costs. He and Lola will make the move soon, but at the moment he's a weekend commuter.

Jay and Suzette (Dauch) Schochet spent a month touring Spain and Portugal following their June 6 marriage. She is now studying law at B.U., in her second year, while Jay is a sales engineer for Diehl Manufacturing throughout the New England states.

Dave Oestricher has been transferred from Denver to Kansas City, Mo., to become manager of the United Press International Bureau there. Dave and Grace have two daughters. Jim and Ann Weidman have moved to Lancaster, Penna., where Jim has taken on duties as assistant to the director of sales for the Hamilton Watch Company. Jim previously represented Hamilton in St. Louis as a field salesman.

Doug Perthel writes that he now has two boys, one just recently, and is working with the National Security Agency in Washington. After two years of moving around, he says they dare to call Maryland their home. And speaking of the new-born crowd:

Pete and Shirley Henderson became parents for the first time on February 13 with a son, Carl Edward. Susan Cory joined the Chuck and Jean Cory household on August 12. Sue has a two-year-old brother, Chip.

Fred Holmes Curtis was born to Bob and Margaret Curtis on September 12. This is the second child for town manager Bob. Doctor and Marine lieutenant Bill Stafford and wife Janice are parents to William Gieger Stafford, born August 16 at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune, N. C. Bill's staff pediatrician there.

Doug and Audrey Corderman were parents for the third time last November with the arrival of Lisa. Doug is now contract administrator for the electronics division of Stromberg-Carlson Co. in Rochester, N. Y. He also teaches a night school course in economics at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Martha Jane Cooke was born on June 29 to Jim and Martha Cooke, their third child. It was a third child also for the Herb Drury's, named Alix Antonia and born on September 2. Ed and Georgia Baldridge had a second son, Thomas on October 15. His brother, Ed III, is two-and-a-half. Insuranceman Rog Steinharter and wife Harriet were parents of Michael Robert on September 24.

Yin and Pat Rathburn had their second child, Vinton John, on July 24. Vin's now at the Missouri School of Mines, courtesy of his employer - the U.S. Army, where he's working on his civil engineering degree. They were formerly at Ft. Belvoir, Va.

After two years in Boston with Polaroid Corporation Jim Rosenfeld is going to the New York area where he'll be director of marketing with Airequipt Corporation and will be living in Scarsdale where he's bought a home.

President Bernie Lewis and bride, Suzanne, will be at home, 178 Baxter Blvd., Portland, Me., after the middle of November following a long honeymoon.

Have a wonderful holiday season!
