Under the direction of newly elected president, Edwin L. Ramsey '35, the Southern California Association is ready to embark on another year of enrollment work, scholarship fund campaigning and diversified social functions. Dick Milliken '50, Enrollment Chairman, is doing a bang-up job with the assistance of a "committee" consisting of over 50 members stretched from Newport Beach to Santa Barbara. (You Easterners get out a map and note the geographical problem involved.) John Lyman '28, head of the Scholarship Fund, reports continued support from the old stand-by nucleus, but feels everyone should take an active part in this endeavor, the greatest we have yet attempted. When making your commitment to John Lyman, members are urged to send their dues for the fiscal year to Treasurer Dick Hefler '36, who recently inherited the thankless job from Wendell Williams '34. As usual the coffers are empty and we need the wherewithal to function. Contrary to whispered rumor, the fact that Wendell built an extra bedroom on his San Fernando house, bought a Mercedes-Benz and took a junket to Bermuda has no bearing on our current insolvent treasury.

Guy Wallick 'si, Alumni Councilor from San Francisco, was a recent guest at a small luncheon at Richlor's attended by Leon Rothschild '24, Stu Durkee '33, Ed Ramsey '35, John Lyman '28, Dick Hefler '36, Bob Purvis '49 and Dick Milliken '50. A new council representation plan is being formulated and Guy will undoubtedly release details when his survey has been completed. Our venerable Councilor, Leon Rothschild (Webster: venerable, grave, sage, wise, worthy of being reverenced by lofty associations), completes his term of office this year and Ken lieber'36 has been nominated to replace him.

Two gatherings are slated for coming months. On April 3, Dean Arthur Jensen will be hosted at a dinner in the lovely Terrace Room of the Town House and May 31, just for a change of pace, a field trip will be conducted for the Association through the newly constructed Anheuser Busch Brewery in Van Nuys. Free Samples. Coming out? End transmission.
