The Dartmouth enrollment committee of Southern California is headed by Bob Williams '26. He has been saddled with a Herculean job, as the territory canvassed by his fifty-man committee covers the length and breadth of Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange counties, a section far bigger than most New England states. There are over sixty high schools and preparatory schools in this area and colleges over the entire country waste no time bidding for the six-foot, sunburned progeny of this state. Space does not permit listing the names of Bob's huge committee, but they are all doing a necessary and worthwhile job. After the contact work by this committee is accomplished, all prospective candidates showing an interest in Dartmouth are followed up by the interviewing committee, chairmaned by LeonRothschild '24. The co-ordinated work of these two groups selected fifteen fine members for the Class of 1958 and the entire Southern California Association follows their progress as undergraduates with great interest.
Eck Hiestand '10 was re-elected to Congress on the Republican ticket, no less, representing the 2 ist California district. Eck attended many coffee klatsches given by ladies in his area and his sparkling personality at these functions must have swung the female vote.
We welcome a new comer to Southern California in the person of Rodger L. Wyckoff '25, who was recently appointed vice president of the Union Bank and Trust Co. in our city. Rodger joins us from Louisville, Ky., and we hope the blue skies of California will counteract any nostalgia he may experience for Kentucky's blue grass. Past President Bill Adams '34 hasn't picked a winning football team yet this season. May declare several new dependents come income tax time.
