Herman W. "Bill" Schulting III!!David C. "Hose" Weld!!

A five-gun salute and all hats off to Bill and "Hose." They have accepted and are already hard at work on the all important jobs of Class Agent and Class Newsletter Editor for the Alumni Fund. Bill takes over the reins from Jack Whitman who did such a marvelous job the past several years; and Dave succeeds Jack Rankin. Jack Whitman has consented to head Special Assignments - a sort of special gifts committee and Lou Van Orden has accepted the job of New England Area Supervisor. (His job will be to supervise the activities of assistant Class Agents in the very important New England states area.)

As you all know, our class is Dartmouth's largest and while we have led the Fund the last several years in the number of contributors, our other achievements can be improved upon. Bill's goal this year is to obtain over 600 contributors and boost all gifts to a "realistic level." For those of you who don't know the financial story of the College, the Alumni Fund is a very important project. Being a privately endowed college, Dartmouth relies on the $1,000,000 plus from the Fund each year to "bridge the gap" between income received and the actual costs of operation. If we, as Dartmouth Alumni want to maintain and perpetuate the College, as we know it, for our sons and future Dartmouth men, we must realistically support the College through the Alumni Fund. I think you will agree: with me that as solid Dartmouth guys, this is not only an obligatory matter but a proud privilege. When you get that Alumni Fund request either through the mail or by personal contact from an assistant Class Agent, give it your most serious consideration.
