MAY 1957 RICHARD A. MARSH, ENS. GLENDON E. FRENCH JR.

Bumped into Ed Scovner and wife while fighting a New York lunch hour mob last month. Ed is connected with the advertising world and seems quite content with his present status.

By luck, I ran into Ernie Greenebaum. He's been offered a teaching fellowship at Brown University. However, Ernie plans to serve in the 6-month active duty program, and then follow up with his fellowship.

Last time I heard from Ron MacKenzie, he was fleeing the country. After an extensive investigation, the Army decided Ron's hockey playing would have to be curbed before the budget got too bulky from flying him to all the service games. Pentagon sources say Ron is the hottest thing on ice since Cordie Howe. He scored five goals, high-sticked, decked players all over the ice in the final game of the season. In his spare time Ron keeps busy guarding an atomic energy plant somewhere in the frontier of Georgia.

Midshipman Gill F. Livingston and Kay Olmstead plan to marry in June. Miss Corinne Kelly is to be another June bride - becoming Mrs. Hugh Calder. Following their marriage, the couple will make their home in Shreveport, La.

A Bay State gal. Miss Frieda Rowell. maried Prentiss Carnell in February. After a short wedding trip, the bride returned to Bennington College to complete her junior year. The groom remains in Hanover 'til June in order to complete requirements for a Master's degree in Business Engineering.

Jo Anne Boon and John Cotton became engaged recently. A graduate of Oberlin College, Miss Boon is employed as a chemist in New Haven. John, at present is a graduate student at Yale University.

Miss Sandra Fishbein and Dave Channer also follow along the engagement path. Miss Fishbein is a graduate of Colby Jr. College.

Bob Faulker who is now stationed at Fort Monmouth, N. J., is linked with Miss Helen Graham. Miss Graham is a senior at Regis College.

Army Lieut. Hendrik Van Rensselaer recently arrived in Korea and is now assigned to the Korean Military Advisory group. Hank was formerly employed by the Lock Joint Pipe Company, East Orange, N. J., before soldiering.

"Happy" (Harold) Daries is now in Okinawa as a member of the Ryukyus Command. (That's what he gets for majoring in geology.) "Happy" is a troop information specialist in the Headquarters Battery of the 22nd Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion.

Pvt. Martin Rosenthal is en route to Germany as part of "Operation Gyroscope," the Army's unit rotation plan. A driver in the 32nd Transportation Company, he entered Uncle Sam's group last August.

Sandy Heath gets the Oscar for this month. Why? He wrote a letter. Sandy got engaged over New Year's to Sue Redington, a sophomore at Goucher College in Baltimore. Provided Uncle Sam doesn't intervene, they'll get hitched in September. The Army has been pretty good to this '56 — just listen. He's stationed only 22 miles from home and will be there for two years. Sandy's job is specialist under the group heading, Neuro-psychiatric Tech. This happens to be a fancy name for corpsman on a mental ward. His work makes up a 40-hour week, so things look pretty special for Mr. Heath. Here's his address for all those with available pens: Pvt. D. Heath, U.S. 52424051, Valley Forge Army Hospital 9963, Phoenixville, Pa.

More news about the Di Iorio family, Paula, John's new bride, is teaching school and John is working for Burroughs Adding Machine in Nashua, N. H.

Jon Robarge is receiving his primary flight training at Sunfly Field, Pensacola, Fla. He's still single but "open for suggestions."

Another '56, Roy Raja, is down near Sunfly Field. Word just came in he made and passed (out) his first solo flight last month.

Dave Whiteford and Molly Edson are now engaged. Miss Edson is a graduate of Abbott Academy and Wheaton College. Dave is with the Whiteford Paper Co., in New York.

A June wedding is planned for Miss Deborah Robertson and John Clinch. The bride-to-be is a senior at Wheaton College. John will graduate from Tuck in June.

And last, Ens. Lloyd Woods recently married Miss Marilyn Dennett. The bride is a graduate of Endicott Junior College. "The Ensign" is stationed in Washington, D. C., and plans to set up house in Arlington, Va.

Barry Bockus is an Army instructor while his part-time job with "The Indian Chiefs" still provides the young soldier with plenty of travel. Each free weekend, Barry performs a quick change of uniform — from olive drab to charcoal gray - and reverts to his old job: Bass player for Dartmouth's famed Dixielanders. During the week at Fort Dix, Barry keeps basic trainees posted on current events, and lectures on the techniques of Communism, etc.

No tears now as I release the last news item. As of April 14, yours truly will be a soldier-boy at Fort Dix, N. J. Just keep your letters coming to my home address and I'll get the column written between K.P.

Oh yes, hope you wrote off a few bucks to the Alumni Fund. If not, squeeze the pocket and do so.
