In Pensacola, Fla., there exists a "strange" club called the Florida Alumni Association of the Flying Ensigns. The membership is limited to' 1956 NROTC graduates attempting to earn their wings. Lee Smith, Bill Crate,Tom Neubacher, Pete Lauterbach, Bill Balliette, Roy Raja, Chuck Ray, Bill Malcolm,Win Bridges and Tom Riker are among those with perfect attendance. The meetings aren't scheduled, they just sort of happen. As soon as eight or more men gather around the bar, a meeting is called. One mustn't leave out the four married couples in the club - the JohnWilborns, the Dick Wallaces, the Bud Roths and the Art Baileys. On a few occasions there have been meetings in the form of bachelor-meet-and-try-to-snake parties. To end the report on this active '56 gang it must be added that the Honorable Peter Lauterbach is prexy.

There's a spatter of news on the '56 party in Hanover before Houseparties. The Indian Chiefs were on hand for. entertainment, and whiskey sours to test everybody's capacity. All together, 168 people showed, but, of course, many were only '56 sympathizers. We may have another get-together at Carnival time. If so, you'll get the scoop in order to make plans for this venture.

It won't be long before we all should dig in and contribute some funds to the Alumni Drive. One of the hardest tasks in the world is to try to figure out an honest approach to you all on this subject. It really isn't a matter of giving but sharing. Thousands of Dartmouth men contribute funds each year so that the Big Green can push forward - holding on to those things it cherishes and improving some of the weak spots. I hope everyone connected with our class realizes the need as well as the responsibility.

Ensign Dick Foster is engaged to Miss Gretchen Meyer. The future Mrs., a senior at Smith College, was graduated from the Kingswood School, Cranbrook. in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Dick is stationed at the Pentagon.

Ken Krane was graduated from the Navy Officer Candidate School, Newport, R. I., and was commissioned ensign.

Lt. Hendrik Van Rensselaer married Miss Margaret Owen of Cedarhurst, L. I. After a stay in Bermuda the couple took root at the Army Terminal at Oakland, Calif.

2nd Lt. Ron MacKenzie is attending the Guided Missile School at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas. He is also playing hockey for the Montzano Air Force Base League. During Christmas vacation Ron was busy reporting about the several bull fights he happened to witness during trips to Mexico. He was offered a contract to enter the ranks as a matador, but Ron said he'd rather "throw the bull than fight it."

Clif Phalen is soon to join hands with Miss Julie Livingston. The prospective bride is a graduate of Abbot Academy and is a senior at Skidmore College. Clif is in his last year at Tuck School.

Bill Hamilton received his commission as an Ensign in the U. S. Navy.

Private Bill Thompson has been assigned to Company A of the Third Regiment in the U. S. Army Infantry Training Center for his basic training.

John Lawrence has put the diamond on Miss Joan Gifford. Miss Gifford is a graduate of the Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover. John is now in his second year at Dartmouth Medical School.

Lt. Andie Merrels is engaged to Miss Sarah Miller of Schenectady, N. Y. Miss Miller is a senior at Smith College.

Dave Duane joins the ever increasing rank of '56 husbands-to-be. His future bride, Miss Nancy Tink, is a member of the class of '57 at Mount Holyoke College.

Before entering Jefferson Medical College Herb Kleber married Miss Joan Fox. The last bit of news on the romantic urge these days concerns the marriage of Art Lomker to Elizabeth Stevens.

Bob French, of Woodstock, Vt., is among five Yale students serving with the present faculty at the Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, Conn. Most of the cadet teachers there have been awarded fellowships by the Ford Foundation.

Bill Tell of D.B.S. experience is at present "hanging out" at the Lawyer's Club in Ann Arbor, Mich. He is writing a brief for the soon-to-be case of Fletcher vs. Dartmouth College.

Well, group, it's time to say finis. I'd sure like to hear from you short-winded pen pals.
