It's New Year's Day afternoon; Oklahoma . leading Duke in the Orange Bowl according to my TV - and I really don't want to sit at the'typewriter this rather dreary Hanover afternoon but in this busy season it's this afternoon or never. If the immortal prose set down in this month's column appears somewhat listless, remember back a month to your own afternoon of January 1 and smile, brother, smile.

Giving our monthly report on new bridegrooms in the class an international flavor is the marriage of 1952's own Brendon Kelley to Senorita Elisa Figueroa of Buenos Aires, granddaughter of a former president of Argentina. The senorita and Brendon were wed in November in New York City's St. Thomas More Church. Brendon is with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Beane in New York.

In Everett, Mass., on Nov. 30, Don Mac-Leod and Patricia Ann Mulrennan became man and wife in the Immaculate Conception Church. Don came east for the big occasion since he is employed as a sales promotion manager for the Permalux Company in Aurora, Ill.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Whitemarsh, Pa., was the scene of the wedding of Art Judson to Bright Miller on the same November day. Dick Gagne was best man and among the ushers, I am told, was Jack Arndt. Another 1952 marriage in November united Bill Riehl and Mrs. John A. Lyon at a church ceremony in Glen Rock, N. J. The new Mrs. Riehl was a widow. Bill is associated with Bulkley Dunton and Company, New York.

Mr. and Mrs. Brooke Taylor honeymooned in Nassau following their marriage in November in Lake Forest, Ill. Brooke's bride is the former Deborah Marie Washburn. The couple will reside in South Pasadena, Calif.

Two men planning marriages are Dr. Marty Yarvis, who will wed Louise Lee Dunn this month, and the Rev. Dick Ellis whose engagement to Monica Wright has been announced. Marty is a graduate of the State University of New York College of Medicine and is now a resident in medicine at Long Island College Hospital. Miss Dunn is a Tufts alumna while Miss Wright was educated in England.

Clarence Palitz has been elected vice president of the Credit-America Corporation, an industrial financing firm. The new VP has a masters in business from NYU and formerly was an executive trainee with the Bankers Trust Company, also in New York. Gene Rosenberg has left Army service and joined the Worcester, Mass., law firm of Maher, McCann and Talcott.

Ted Frankenbach, we learned from a newspaper clipping, received a reward of merit from the Royal-Globe Insurance Group. Ted's with Pearsall and Frankenbach, Inc., in Westfield, N. J. Another 1952 in Hanover is Walt Barker, now in his second year at Tuck. Walt and wife Vivian have two children, Theresa and Mike. Visiting the Hanover Inn in recent months (I'm told since I'm only getting weekends in Hanover myself these days) were Jay Schochet and Alex and Tula Athanas and baby daughter Anne.

Mentioning Jack Arndt earlier in connection with Art Judson's marriage brings to mind the information that Jack and wife Stephenie are living in Lexington, Va., with daughter Elizabeth. Jack is training director for James Lees and Sons Co., Inc. Bill Kay is assistant advertising manager for soups with Campbell Soup Company. He was formerly with the N. W. Ayer advertising agency.

Jay Stahl has been given a new assignment with the nuclear division of Union Carbide and Carbon. He's still located at the New York City headquarters, but he'll be moving to a new plant in the near future. The Class of 1952 is well represented on many Concord, N. H., community activities by Dort Bigg. Dort, an attorney, participates in civic clubs, Scouts, little theater, chess and politics. He and wife Marcia have a son, Dort Jr.

Curt and Eileen Richards are Plainville, Mass., residents and have two children, Curt and Suzanne. Curt left A. G. Spaulding Brothers, Inc., in 1956 to become a representative for International Correspondence Schools. Jim and Nancy Donmoyer also have two youngsters, Mary and Ted, and live in Harrisburg, Pa. Jim's a salesman with Westinghouse Electric. He's been with the firm since graduation.

Like Dort Bigg, Chev Haskell is a busy young Dartmouth man in Concord, N. H. Chev is a salesman for IBM's data processing division. He and Joan have three children. Grant, Alexa and Stephanie, and are also active in Concord community affairs.

A Christmas card from Bill Sweet reported that he and Joan were with the Navy in the Philippines. The last word from another Navy man, Ray Pierce, placed the Pierces at a school in Monterey, Calif. He and Helen have two children, Debbie and Rebecca.

Rollie Glasser is another 1952 with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Beane. His title is "electronic programmer" - sounds fascinating, doesn't it? Charlie and Elaine Weed are living in Arlington, Va., since Charlie is a U. S. Government geographer. The Weeds have two children, Melanie and Harrison.

Ray Hinds is an office manager - he forgot to mention of or with what - and he and Joanne live in Wellesley Hills, Mass., and have one boy, David. Across the country in West Covina, Calif., reside Bill and SusanMontgomery (Bill managed to get to reunion despite the distance). Bill is another 1952 IBM sales representative and a busy man in Southern California alumni activities.

Dick and Jackie Little are now in Syracuse, N. Y., where Dick is a student geographer and research assistant. Dick Jr. is now well over three years old. Bart Lombardi, his questionnaire shows, is a computer systems analyst with IBM in Harrison, N. Y. Stan and Eleanor Kogan are Texans these days since Captain and Dr. Stan is a dentist with the U. S. Army. They have a daughter, Laura Jo.

Oklahoma walloped Duke, a quick shift in the New England weather has given Hanover a beautiful sunset and I feel pretty good at this point too. Looks like 1958 will be a great year for Dartmouth., for 1952 and, I hope for you.

Dartmouth men on hand tor the September 6 marriage of Dusty Rhodes 52 to Mary Jane Carson were (l to r) standing: Dick O'Neill '52, Joe O'Connor '51, the groom, Bob Ringstad '52, Tom Collins '52, and Butch Brandfass '51. At the piano: Sam Sparhawk 51.
