One of the charter members of the Dan mouth Club of Cleveland, Ohio, is our Johnnie Watson. At the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Club in 1907 - Johnnie cut the cake. They had quite a gathering with 200 greater Cleveland graduates of Dartmouth present, 50 undergraduates and 60 prospective students. Incidentally, a fund of $25,000 is being raised by the Club to establish an endowment for a full-tuition scholarship for a freshman entering Dartmouth from the Cleveland district. Johnnie has had a big hand in building the fund. Fine work big boy!!!!

Tom Streeter sent out a nice Treasury report of the class. The fee of $5.00 covers your subscription to the MAGAZINE and helps toward the running expenses of the class Brother give him your support.

Bascom Brayton, now 83, has become oriented to living in Salt Lake City. Utah. He gets about pretty well and sends greetings to the Class. 6

Nice note from Dr. Leroy Vail: the doctor retired from practice in 1951 and now enjoys lazy living in Florida. His home is 13006 Boca Ciega Ave., Maderia Beach, St. Petersburg, Fla. The Vails have a daughter, now married to a Bowdoin graduate, who is associated with the Art Museum of Toledo, Ohio. There is one granddaughter.

As usual, Sally gave the Secretary a birthday party to celebrate his 76th birthday, January 14. Thanks boys for the many congratulations received, especially a poem from Sid Rollins. The Secretary once accused him of being one of the worst poets since the days of Rome: he retracts the slander. However, Sid of a long way from being a Long-fellow. Speaking of poets, the artist of the class, Ike Charron, sent a water color of the old red barn, the one back of Sid's house in Newport, N. H.

Jared P. Hatch now resides at 1217 — l6th Street, Santa Monica, Calif. Now retired and not in too good health, he is living alone since the death of his wife. Red would be happy to have a letter from classmates.

Supplementing a note on Bill Roby in last month's issue, Bill is a Consultant-Engineer for the company that builds not only hydro-electric plants in Formosa, Iceland, Ceylon and Pakistan, under what is called the Point-Four Plan of the Government, but builds steam plants, cement mills and many other projects to aid those countries. A big job.

Eddie McLennan has changed his address to 4386 Rustic Road, Santa Monica, Calif. Eddie please drop in and see Red Hatch. He'd be glad to see you.

Just received a card from Major Sharpe from North Citrus Ave., Covina, Calif. With no more Indians to kill, the Major lives a quiet life. "Old soldiers never die."

The Class will be sorry to learn of the passing of our classmate, Clarence W. Gormly, October 3, 1957. Gorm came to us from Troy, N. Y. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta and Dragon and took an active part in class affairs as an undergraduate.

Secretary, 100 North St., Pittsfield, Mass.
