This may be my shortest column ever, judging by the small pile of material I have stacked next to me, but that can only be blamed on your lack of a two-cent postcard to bring me up-to-date. Carnival ended yesterday with another Big Green victory as I write this, and though we have no snow here, it's cold as hell.

I have one engagement to announce - that of Slade Gorton of Cambridge, Mass., to Miss Sally Jean Clark of Selah, Wash. Slade is presently a Seattle attorney, receiving his law degree from Columbia University after his Dartmouth Phi Beta Kappa graduation.

While at lunch on January 20, I met Bob Pierce who's with Olin-Mathieson Chemical Corp., selling in this area as well as in Eastern Massachusetts. Had only a chance to say a brief hello, but Bob promised to get in touch with me on his next trip.

Got a fine letter from Kent Cooley who's presently in Casablanca, Morocco as a freelance writer. He's actually North African correspondent for a Paris magazine called The American Abroad. He hopes to work in the Moroccan bureau of a major press association. His wife Edith teaches U.S. Air Force language classes at Nouasseur Air Base, near Casablanca. Before Kent's present assignment (I remember him as "John" at College, rather than "Kent") he worked (in 1954) as an editorial writer for the New York Herald Tribune; then went to Morocco with the Army's Corps of Engineers where his last assignment was Public Information Officer for Brig. General L.J. Lincoln who commanded the Engineers' Mediterranean Division.

Now into a few vocation developments. Don Briggs is Office Manager for Eastman Kodak Company, Business and Technical Personnel Dept., in Rochester.... Loomis Dana is Associate Director of the East Provi-dence-Barrington (R.I.) YMCA, living ten minutes from us.... Don Farnsworth is a Representative for McGraw-Hill Book Co. in Ithaca.... John Harder is an Oakland, Calif-, Insurance Agent.... Irl Marshall is President of the Duraclean Company and has been appointed Chairman of the Deerfield Business and Industry Group for the Highland Park, Ill., Hospital Building Fund. ... Ken Riley has been promoted to Assistant Cashier in the Banking Department of the Northern Trust Co. in Chicago.

I need a letter or card from you to make this column readable next month. Meanwhile, do your share in the Alumni Fund and Capital Gifts Drive, will you?
