Class dues are coming in exceptionally well so far, I'm glad to report, and we now should be well into solvency even though we plan to publish another Class Directory, available (we hope) by Reunion. The cost of such a publication is high, but we feel its merit and usefulness offsets cost. And Treasury finally can help!!! I received several news items accompanying Dues-payings, and you'll find most of it below. Thanks, meanwhile, to all of you who have helped so far - and it's not too late for those who haven't.
Our Class Executive Meeting in Hanover over Holy Cross weekend was a fine occasion and (I believe) definitely successful. Those in attendance were (with wives) Bob Alden,Bert Rodman, King Ball, Mike McGean, JayUrstadt, John Stearns and me. Among other things discussed was the Big Tenth Reunion (don't forget dates... June 19-21) under the capable guidance of Chairman Jay Urstadt. He's well into plans, and so far it sounds like a doozer!!!! Promised attendance returns so far are great, so plan yourself to be there.... Also set up at E.C. meeting was Nominating Chairman John Stearns whose job it will be (with committee of 6) to present a slate of new officers for your decision at Reunion meeting. Anyone who has any constructive ideas can readily reach John at 1680 York Ave., N.Y.C. 28. He welcomes suggestions.
Others in attendance at Holy Cross game (spotted in stands) were John and Joan Sweetland, Gus Farnsworth, George Hartmann, Joe Sullivan, Fred Springer-Miller, Dick Moulton, Bob Amirault, Bob and Donna Muenzberg, and probably others I missed. Fine game - no disgrace losing that One.... The preceding week here in Providence the Green really turned on first half power to thump Brown 20-0 much to the delight of Bob and Joan McArthur, John and Joan Sweetland, Bert and Sue Rodman, Stu Dunham, Bob and Natalie Rooke, Burt and Carolyn Proom, Joe Sullivan, Eddie Sullivan, AL and Joyce Wagner, Larry Schaefer, and John and Nancy Stockwell.

Al Neidle writes from syracuse, Ind., where he's personnel manager for the Weatherhead Company. Al and Mildred are proud of 3 children, Chris, Deborah and Judith (Ages 7, 6, and 5)....Ed White Jr. (a non-grad) was surprised that we'd include a one-year attendee at Dartmouth in class plans and hopes, but I was quick to assure him he's as much a classmate as I am. He forthwith paid dues, and I'm most appreciative. I'd certainly like to emphasize that every one of the 600-odd '49rs on our mailing lists are most welcome in the ranks. The more the merrier!!!
From Bill Kerr in Cambridge, England, comes an interesting note. Bill's a research student in American History at Cambridge, probing the British image of the U. S., factual and otherwise. He recently heard an address by Dean Acheson at Cambridge where Mr. Acheson referred to Mr. Dickey as "the present President of Dartmouth College was the author while a member of the State Department of reciprocal trade legislation ascribed to a New England Senator." Mr. Acheson was describing his experiences in the 1940s as a member of the State Department, before becoming Secretary.... Barbara Whipple writes of Scott's and her travels worldwide in recent years which touched Viet Nam, South East Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. They were delighted with the opportunity to see the world which this business trip afforded, but they're also delighted to be back home, especially in time for Big Green successful season.... Just today I got a letter from Jack Barr in Iran where he's Manager of the Teheran Office for Pan American World Airways System, still a bachelor, but very delighted with life in the Near East. Jack welcomes any or all classmates who might venture in or near Iran in varied travels....
