The holidays have just ended as I write this, and I hope the Bearded One was as good to you and yours as he was to me and mine. It's always a shock to go from lighthearted holiday season to cruel realization that there are some who expect me to work for a living!!!

Pat and I were delighted to receive cards from the following celebrants: Art and Betty Wallace, John and Joan Sweetland, John and Nancy Stockwell, Terry Maphis, Ed and Marge Clogston, Bob and Joan Mac Arthur, Jack and Peggy Kilmartin, Harv and Jane Nolan, Bob and Nadine Jackson, Bert and Sue Rodman, King and Jody Ball, Tom and Ann Swartz, Summy and Nonie Arneson, Bill and Nomi Ballard, Fred and Jeannie Briscoe, Al and Joyce Wagner, Carll and Barbara Tracy, Dave and Mimi Vogels, Herb and Ann Gramstorff, Bob and Persis Alden, Dave and Kay Strasenburgh, Mike and Lois McGean, Jay and Barbara Rosenfield, Lew and Dee Geer, Chet Palmer, and Paul and Cathy Erwin. Thanks so much to all of you.

How many of you saw the magnificent article in the December 29 issue of Newsweek about ad-man Ed Graham? It was a whole-page spread about one of our most successful brethren. Ed's done a tremendously clever job in the commercial industry of both radio and television. Even the most rabid commercial-haters among us smile when Emily Tipp tries to sell us Tip-Top Bread and also when Danfield Nes and his valet, Rudy, pitch for Nescafe. These two as well as the famous Bert and Harry Piel Beer-men are Ed's creations. A tip of Emily's Tip-Top hat to you, Ed.

Another clipping which caught my eye last week was in a sports page clipping in the Boston Herald. In it, the article explained that a young man named Arnie Springer of Winthrop High School scored 40 points against Andover High in a Northeastern Conference basketball game to break the old Conference scoring record of 39, set by Jim Zafris of Newburyport High in 1944. If my memory and records are correct, that should be our Jim Zafris, now a resident of Newbury, Mass. Records are made to be broken, but Jim's held up for 14½ years.

Os Skinner '28 sends me a clipping about Bob "Rocket" Reed which complements what I wrote last month of Rocket's promotion with Tidewater Oil. Bob is now #2 man in Tidewater's Eastern Division, extending from Maine to Virginia. He is now the eastern division marketing manager and a member of the division operating committee.

Accompanying his generous dues-check, Ort Hicks writes of his many travels in behalf of the Foreign Service in Oslo, Norway. He hopes to make reunion, though distances involved make it a big problem. He's also working on Cris Bugge (still a bachelor and a 12-month-a-year skier) to accompany him.

Dave and Kay Strasenburgh intend to ski this winter and hope that Pat and I can join them somewhere, as we did some seven years ago at Lake Placid (it doesn't seem possible that it was that long ago), so we'll scan our winter weekend schedules and hope to work out something. Time certainly slips by faster than we care to admit.

Got a fine letter from Ed Grant up in Worcester who announces the birth of John Raymond Grant, born November 25. This is Ed and Betty's third, Mary Ellen being 9 and Eddie Jr. 7. Ed is a Manufacturers' Agent covering the New England territory for several appliance and housewares manufacturers. Ed says business is excellent which is a welcome sound to hear from anyone near us. He and Betty definitely plan to make reunion in June.

One engagement to announce this month - that of Ed "Ritchie" Hunt of East Bridgewater, Mass. (working for Providence-Washington Insurance Company as a marine underwriter in New York City) to Miss Elizabeth Ann Everett of East Orange, N. J. Only a few days after I received this clipping via the News Service in Hanover I met Ed in the Providence Home Office of P-W, and we had a coffee together, discussing reunion plans and old friends.

A couple of vocation-listings - George F. Day is a graduate student at Harvard.... Dick Desmond is with Avondale Mills in Dallas, Texas.... Brud Becker is Manager of Sales Engineers, Bay State Abrasive Products Co. in Westboro, Mass.... Jack Flanagan is President of Hennigan & Flanagan Dist. Inc. in Phoenix, Ariz.... Dana Miller is a statistician with George B. Bock, Consultant Ac- tuary in New York City Phil Noyes is a salesman with Washington Hardware Co. in Tacoma, Wash.... Paul Richwagen is an administrative assistant at the Buckley Country Day School in Roslyn, N. Y.

Don't forget to pay your dues if you haven't already. Returns have been real good so far, but there are many "regulars" still outstanding. DO YOUR SHARE.... And don't forget the big dates of June 19-21 - that is REUNION TIME.... BE THERE....
