Your Secretary has found a bosom pal in the person of Jack Childs '09, who under a sympathetic impulse sent in several interesting items about which will be relayed piecemeal in this column, the available space in one issue being hardly adequate to quote all he reports. He writes about Preston Kelsey as follows:

Preston Kelsey, the insurance tycoon, landed in Cleveland on February 14 so's to be present the next day for the wedding of his son Tom '54, who was being hitched to Miss Elizabeth Sessions, a Cleveland gal. Tom's brother, Preston Jr., '58 was best man. '25 guys present were Ike Burner, who came on from Decatur, Ill.; Bud Petrequin, and Preston's frat brother in Psi U, Bob Reading. Josh Davis '27, Preston's brother-in-law, was also present. Preston has done all right for himself in the insurance game. He's a vice president and director of Marsh & McLennon located in the San Francisco area where he has about 2100 people under his wing.

Frank Wallace and Ellie must have a yen for travel. It seems only a short while ago that they were in France where the barrister underwent an emergency appendectomy. Last fall they enjoyed a delightful motor trip through Holland, Belgium, the Loire and Rhone valleys in France and the French Riviera and then through Portugal. Now they are planning a hedge-hopping round trip in a Cessna 180 with another couple to a rendezvous of the Sportsmen's Pilot Association at Palm Springs, California.

Ed Burns, Chairman of our Executive Committee is due for congratulations on his recent election to the presidency of the National Canners' Association. June Bryant has been elected chairman by the new board of Directors of Bryant Chucking Grinder Co., which is an affiliate of the Ex-Cell-O Corp. of Detroit. Jack Reeder has been elected a senior vice president of Benton & Bowles, Inc., New York advertising agency. We're indebted to Red Martin for news about Gordon Wygant who has been appointed aviation sales manager of Titeflex, Inc., of Springfield, which is a leading producer of flexible metal and Teflon hose lines and electrical connectors for industry and aviation. It is a subsidiary of Atlas Corp. Dutch Schroedel has been elected president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the General Building Contractors' Association. Dutch is vice president and a director of Turner Construction Company in charge of its Philadelphia office.

Attendance by '25ers at the Boston Alumni dinner was rather limited for the number living in the area. We can recall when we were a perennial aspirant for the attendance cup, which this year was won again by our arch-rivals the Class of 1923. Gathered at one table to enjoy the occasion were Pete Blod-gett, Gordie Churchill, Dutch Clark, Don Hunt. Ralph Jameson, Joe Leavitt, Ed Pease and Woody Wilson, while Jock Brace sat at the head table.

It is with profound regret that we record the passing of Rollie Barnfather, who many of us will recall was a maestro at the piano during his undergraduate days.

Hank Bjorkman was featured recently in an article "About New York" under the caption "Broker by Day Turns Bat-maker by Night to Bring Joy to Unfortunate Boys." After working all day in a Wall Street brokerage concern, the article indicated, Hank dines in his ninth-floor apartment and then hurries down to a rented cellar shop where he pursues a hobby of turning out yearly 2,500 to 3,000 baseball bats for boys in orphanages, on corrective farms, the Police Athletic League and for boys who get into the newspapers through some misfortune. A feature of every bat that has great appeal is the name of the boy for whom it is intended burned into the hitting end.

We present this month a sketch of Bob Borwell, who will be remembered as having achieved prominence on the occasion of our 25th reunion as Chairman of the 1925 Class Memorial Fund, which established a record at the time.

Bob Borwell has been active in Dartmouth affairs since graduation, having served on the Class Executive Committee, the Alumni Council, his second term as Vice President, and as Chairman of the 1925 Class Memorial Fund. He is currently working with the Capital Gifts Committee and is also active in the Chicago Dartmouth Alumni Association, having served numerous terms on its board.

Bob is associated with Marsh & McLennan, Inc., insurance brokers operating on a worldwide basis, where he is a director and vice president. His civic activities have been numerous. For many years he worked with the Oak Park and River Forest Community Chest; he is a trustee of Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital, Union League Foundation for Boys' Clubs, Scoville Institute; and he was one of the organizers of the Chicago Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, of which he is a director. He is also a director of several companies, including Oak Park Trust & Savings Bank and Standard Railway Equipment Mfg. Co., and is an active member of Chicago Club, Union League Club, University Club of Chicago, University Club of Milwaukee, Oak Park Country Club, Chicago Yacht Club and Midwest Association of DKE. During World War II he was assigned to special intelligence work in plant protection for the Navy.

Married to Mary Vette in 1931, following her graduation from Smith College, Bob has two children, a son, Robert, Jr., who graduated from Dartmouth, Class of 1955, and a daughter, Elsie V., who is attending the University of Colorado, and a year-old granddaughter by Bob Jr. His hobbies include hunting, photography, sailing and gardening.

Here again we have a man whose interests exemplify a deep and abiding Dartmouth spirit.
