Another school year is well underway, and once more at the hour of changing classes one has to pick his way carefully when on the hill to avoid students rushing from one font of knowledge to another. The geographical distribution of the entering class shows eleven states represented: five from New York; three each from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania; two apiece from California, Minnesota, and one each from New Jersey; and Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, and Ohio.

By way of a progress report, it is encouraging to be able to tell you that construction of the new medical sciences building is running ahead of schedule at the moment.

Professor Tenney and Doctor Valtin presented "Respiratory Control in Experimental Hyperthyroidism" at the New England Veterans Administration Research Conference at Sturbridge, Mass. At the same meeting, Professor Stueck described his work on "Some Problems in Phosphate Metabolism."

Under the chairmanship of Professor John Lyle, our faculty provided the entire afternoon program for the New Hampshire Medical Society Committee on Cancer Control. Professor Mosenthal spoke on "Palliative Surgery in the Management of Terminal Cancer"; Professor Fisher presented "The Role of Neurosurgery in the Management of Terminal Cancer"; and Professor Milne delivered "Non-Surgical Considerations in Terminal Cancer Care."

Sommers, M.D., Associate Professor of Pathology at Boston University, presented "Host and Tumor Relationships in Carcinoma of the Large Intestine." Albert R.
