During Christmas vacation relative quiet reigned on the hill. One of the nicest features of it was the large number of greetings received from so many alumni, and we regret that limited space prevents publishing all the wonderful family group pictures submitted. Sincere thanks to you all.

Considerable interest has been shown over the entire country in the Special Care Unit, developed at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital under the direction of William T. Mosenthal, M.D., Assistant Professor of Surgery. More than twenty hospitals have sent representatives to study the setup, coming from as far away as Pittsburgh; and over one hundred inquiries have been received, including some from far away places like California, Texas, and Canada. The New England Hospital Assembly Travelling Institute has sponsored descriptions of the unit at Waterville, Maine; Chelsea, Mass.; and Hartford, Conn.; and Scope weekly carried a full-page picture feature on this work.

On December 8, Dr. Horace W. Magoun, Professor of Anatomy at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine, delivered the Squibb Centennial Lecture here on "The Development of Ideas Relating the Mind and the Brain."

In Chicago, the School was represented at the American Academy of Dermatology meetings by Prof. Otis F. Jillson who presented two papers, one on Physical Allergy and another on Insect Allergy. At the same meetings, Prof. Waiter C. Lobitz Jr. conducted a panel discussion. Prof. Leslie K. Sycamore of the Radiology Department attended the New England Roentgen Ray Society as a member of its executive committee.

Hilly Poindexter M'27, honorary M.A. '57, has transferred his Public Health activities from Southeastern Asia to Baghdad, Iraq. The Wave Ellsworths M'47, now practicing in Spokane, Wash., recently welcomed their fifth, Brian Alan. Unofficial and undetailed word has reached us that Bill Goulburn M'52 was married recently to Marie Snavely. Bob Millhouse M'53 reports that he and Howie Geist M'53 are stationed at Orlando, Florida, with the Air Force. Before going on active duty, Bob completed a residency in Pediatrics at Los Angeles Children's Hospital. Pud Harrison M'54 has postponed his arrival at the Mayo's in Rochester, Minn., from July to October due to some conflict in the date of discharge from the service.

Tom Clark M'54 reports seeing Ben GilsonM'55 and his family in Yokosuka, Japan. Both Tom and Ben are wearing Navy blue, but the former expected to be state-side before Christmas. Al Edmundson M'55, now at Brookhaven National Laboratories with his wife and daughter, hopes to complete his Ph.D. this year, and then try teaching and more research. Bart Onofrio M'55 is rumored to be somewhere in the South Pacific in service.

The holidays and good skiing brought many younger alumni back. We heard of or saw: Freddy Chang M'57, Bob Charman M'58, Mark Cloutier M'58, Bob Forcier M'58, and Bill Gallagher M'58.

A Boston newspaper recently carried a story on the engagement of Ken Herrmann M'57 to Sara Jane Evens, with a June wedding in prospect. A large group of the M'58's gathered in Winchester, Mass., on December 20 to attend the wedding of their classmate, Bob Shirley, to Althea Hersey.
