This year's Winter Carnival theme is "The Good Old Days" and symbolizing the nostalgic atmosphere for this festive weekend will be the traditional center-of-campus snow statue. The first of these elaborate creations was built for the 1930 Winter Carnival, though fraternities and dormitories had started erecting their own snow sculptures a few years earlier. Pictured here are some of the well-remembered statues that have graced the center of the campus in the latter years of "The Good Old Days."
The first center-of-campus snow statue was designed for the 1930 Winter Carnival by H. Pennington Haile '24.
