Johnnie Ward, with his two daughters and their husbands, Dud Orr '29 and Bill Coles '29 were recently on a trip to Porto Rico. While there Johnnie taxied out to Rio Piedras and had a grand visit with Bill Sykes. Bill had written instructions as to how to get out to see him and said "When you get near my place, say to any one you see, I am looking for the "Americano viejo" (old man) and they would show you the place." That is just what happened. When Johnnie arrived, all the neighbors seemed to be expecting him and more than ten showed him the way. Johnnie found Bill looking very well and he does hope to be able to be with us in Hanover in June 1961. Bill had a lot of stories to tell of his early days in Porto Rico. We do hope he can make it in 1961 as it would be good indeed to have him with us once more.
On February 28 Chan Cox reached his 80th birthday, and we were interested to note that 21 men of the class will reach that venerable, but not old age this year, while seventeen of us made it last year. So now the average age is nearly 81 years.
Jim McFate, our very good friend at the Inn has reserved rooms for our annual get-together in June. Considering the cold weather last year we have decided to have the party a week later this year. The dates are June 26-27-28. Please red-pencil those dates in your date book and plan to be with us. You can make your reservations with Mr. McFate at any time now.... Bill Crowell, Mort's youngest son, is now a major in the U.S. Army and is stationed at Dubois, Penna. Mortie hopes to see Bill and his family when he comes north in June, on his way to Hanover.
