Attention! Thursday evening, May 15 is the date set for our Annual Dinner and Awards Night. I can promise you an evening that will go down in history as being one of the finest affairs ever sponsored by The Dartmouth Alumni Association of Long Island'
Those who attended the dinner one year ago all agreed that it was the highlight of the season for Dartmouth Long Islanders. This year's affair will be bigger and better! You can't afford to miss it. Plans have been under way for almost six months now, under the leadership of Ed Warnke '19. Up to this writing, the itinerary looks as follows:
1. The famous TOMAHAWK Award for outstanding service to the College and corninunity will be presented to Sid Hayward '26 Secretary of the College, and our long-time friend, Bill Cunningham '19. Bill was M.C. for us last May, and his appearance again will insure the attendance of everybody who came last year.
2. We will again be welcoming all the newly accepted members of the Class of 1963 and their parents. These boys and their families want to meet you, and I know you'll want to meet them.
3. Co-M.C. will be Orton H. Hicks '21, V.P. m charge of Public Relations, one of the most respected and likable Dartmouth men in these parts. His presence should be an extra added incentive for you all to come.
4- A top-flight dinner served at the popular Salisbury Country Club, Nassau County Park, will enable everyone to go home a pound or two heavier. A menu of everything from soup to nuts has been planned.
5. Of course, the bar will be open at all times.
Tickets may be purchased from our Treasurer, Norman Falkin '47, by writing him at 1605 Broadway, New Hyde Park, or by calling him at PR 5-7301. Or, you may buy them at the door, but we would like to know ahead of time that you'll be there. $15.00 covers both you and your wife. Checks should be made out to The Dartmouth Alumni Association of Long Island.
We are most happy to report a tremendously successful Glee Club Concert at The Garden City High School on March 23. Fifty-one boys made the trip from Hanover and delighted almost 1,000 enthralled listeners with some outstanding vocal arrangements. As usually happens, the singing of "Dartmouth Undying" left many a moist eye in the audience of loyal alumni, wives, sweethearts and friends. Our hats are off to John Wolff 32, and his committee, plus all those who boosted ticket sales, for pulling off the show of the year!
If you haven't received one already, you will soon be advised of the date and place of our Annual Meeting. The Association has this year really started to roll in high gear and we of the Executive Committee would like to hear about any ideas you may have as to how we can more effectively and more efficiently govern your club. You are urged to attend the Annual Meeting. In addition to the seriousness of the affair, it's nice to meet and greet old friends.
Our final event will be coming up on Saturday, July 18. The annual Beach Party at Gilgo Beach for the whole family of all Dartmouth Alumni and their friends has been an outing that in past years never once failed to be loads of fun. There is no reason why things shouldn't be the same again on July 18. We gather whether rain or shine. And as an added attraction, we have received a most generous donation of free beer. Etiquette does not permit us to name the donor, but Phil Liebmann has wished us all the success in the world, and with the addition of his fine product to help wash down the hot dogs and sandwiches, we can't miss.
