DeOrmond "Tuss" McLaughry, former head football coach at Dartmouth and now Professor of Physical Education and Associate Director of Athletics at the College, has been appointed Executive Secretary and Treasurer of the American Football Coaches Association on a fulltime basis effective July 1, 1960. The appointment is on a five-year basis. McLaughry has been serving as secretary and treasurer for the American Football Coaches Association on a part-time, unpaid basis since 1940. He will retire from his present Dartmouth post on June 30, i960. He plans to conduct his duties for the Coaches Association from his home in Norwich, Vermont.
Three members of the Dartmouth Boxing Club, sophomore Bill Hall, junior Pete Sly and senior Mike O'Keefe, entered the New Hampshire Golden Gloves Tournament. Hall, a welterweight, won his first bout by a TKO; O'Keefe was a KO victim. Sly drew a bye in the first heavyweight round.
Bill Gundy, 1959 football captain, was awarded the Coach Blackman Trophy for "that player who has contributed most to the success of the Dartmouth team" at the annual football banquet. Pete Erwin received the "Manners Makyth Man" Award.
