This report is being written when your secretary is in a state of complete shock so don't be too surprised at anything which comes out in this column. I just returned from a vacation in sunny California to find my house and driveway buried in three feet of snow. It took just a little more than four hours to be transferred from the lush green valley to the snow and ice and that takes more than one day to overcome. However, all good times must end, so here I am back at work.

Even though I was away there are still some bits of news about those of you around the country.

To please those young men born a year or so ago, we have two young ladies to announce. Elizabeth Miller, daughter of Dr. David and Ellen Miller was born on January 15. Dave and Ellen live in Portland, Ore., where Dave is a surgeon. The Millers have two other daughters, Wendy and Gail.

Another West Coast arrival was Judy Weir, born November 17. Judy's proud parents are Bill and Clara. She has a sister, Patty, almost three years old. Bill is regional sales manager for Sylvania Electric Products and currently is living in Fullerton, Calif., outside of Los Angeles.

Another nearby Los Angeles resident is John Nacos of Altadena. John and his wife, Van, have two daughters, Janna, nine and Pamela, almost eight, and a son Charles, seven. John is president of a construction company.

While in San Francisco, I had an opportunity to have a nice chat with Ray Rackley's wife, Rhea. She said Ray is studying hard and writing his thesis for a Ph.D. in linguistics at the University of California at Berkeley. Ray's special interest is the Indian languages. She said that although she is a native Californian they are both most anxious to take a trip to the East coast with daughter, Madeleine.

I enjoyed hearing that Tom Morris is secretary-treasurer of the Troy Dairy Farms, Troy, Penna., which distributes wholesale milk. Tom and Dixie have two daughters, Ann, seven and Joan, six.

Another recent traveler in the class is Gil Shattuck. Gil spent several months in Europe and recently started a new job as plant accountant for Warner Brothers Company, in Bridgeport, Conn., manufacturers of ladies undergarments. Good luck in the new job, Gil.

Ed and Joan McLaughlin recently moved to a new home in Newton Center, Mass. I'm sure that their three boys, aged five to twelve, will enjoy the new house. Ed is a salesman for Chase Funds, a mutual fund in Boston.

Recently, another Boston resident moved to a new home. Bud Munson moved out to West Concord. He and Barbara have two sons, Douglas and Rolf. Bud is with Harbridge House, a firm of management consultants.

The firm of Finch Pruyn of Glens Falls recently announced that Sam Hoopes was made director of purchasing. Sam is also a director of the company.

It was recently announced that Dave Packard has been made assistant manager of the Municipal Bond Department for J. Barth and Company, investment bankers. I hope the bond market continues to go up, Dave.

Things must be going well for our classmates in Massachusetts. Keith and Peachy Klane just moved to Lexington, Mass. Keith owns and operates a shoe store in Lexington. They have two children, Morris and Leslie.

It is getting hard to keep Nat Merrill's name out of this column. This time Mr. Rudolf Bing, general manager of the Metropolitan Opera, announced that Nat is to be stage manager next season of a new production of "L'Elisar d'Amore." This will be the first time any young American will stage a new production at the Met. The class is certainly proud of Nat's continually successful career at the Metropolitan.

Since I don't have the energy to write more, as I gaze out at the remaining snow that has to be shovelled, I'll have to save the rest till next month.
