In case you hadn't noticed, our tenth reunion is just a few weeks away and not all of you have signed up. Why not? Should be a great function for everyone who can be there and we'll give you a complete preview next month. For this next-to-last go-round, we'll repeat our gimmick of asterisks for each guy known to be saving his thirst and an extra roll of film to record inane scenes on the banks of the Connecticut in June. As a starter, note the happy news listed under ...

RATTLE PRATTLE

George and Ann Jewett (**) are proud parents of their first born, a son named Matthew Buckle, who arrived February 23. He began as an 8 pound, twelve ouncer. George and Ann expect to squeeze reunion in between the end of teaching at Darien High School and George's head counselorship at Camp Viking at Orleans on Cape Cod.

THE HITCHING POST

Don't know whether reunion plans are afoot around the nation's capital, but we learned of a fairly recent marriage starring Bob Hartshorn and the former Mary Davis in Bethesda, Md., last September 12. Bob is an archives assistant at the National Archives in Washington. After Dartmouth Bob graduated with distinction from the USAF Jet Fighter School and spent four years in the wild blue yonder.

INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ

Had a phone call from Ed and MarleneTuck (**) as they passed through Chicago en route to the West Coast. We were having one of our many minor blizzards at the time so California's sunshine was most inviting. Ed wrote later that they'd spent some good times with the Gene Carvers (**) and Bud MacDonalds around San Francisco.

Among the hawkers and peddlers, DolphCramer is district sales manager for Pennsylvania Glass Sand, temporarily making head- quarters in St. Louis. Dolph managed his hickories down numerous slopes during the past schuss season, too.... Also in the midcontinent selling region is Gene McCabe who's been made district sales manager for Mobil Oil in Kansas City ....Back in New England we can find Jack Elliott laboring as a salesman for Rhode Island Textile Co. in Pawtucket. Reunion, John??? ... Good news from Walt and Rosemary Lindenthal (**) concerns their third offspring, James, born last fall. He joined sister Mary-Beth, four, and Kathryn, two, waving bon voyage as Thai took off for a six-week European tour to England, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Yugoslavia on a buying trip for Bamberger's. Walt says Ken Edelson is carrying a big load of the buying for General Sportscraft in New York and that Dick Echikson (**) made a trip to Europe for Macy's.

The insurance companies have several stalwarts who have checked in recently. Ben Shaver is district group pension manager for Prudential in Boston. Since the company is constructing a monstrous new office in Beantown, Red is matching their efforts with a home in Framingham where he'll be glad to hear from any other 50's who can raise his ham station of W1KCC. The little Shavers are Merrie, aged seven, Robert "Tiger" now three-and-a-half, and John, two. Careful perusal of the note reveals that Ben and Joy (**) will be back for reunion! They couldn't speak, though, for Ned Weir who's reported hustling wetbacks as western region tour manager for KLM in Beverly Hills.

Ben said that Dick and Shirley Ceely are ensconced in Lenox. Mass., and toiling for Berkshire Life. ... Also working for Berkshire in Pittsfield is Ed Sawyer who was elected an officer of the company. He is director of agency services, was manager of office services since 1956, joined the firm in 1954.

Had a good report from Jim Martel (**) who is agency manager for Travelers Insurance Co. in Haverford, Pa. Jim joined Travelers in 1955 as a field supervisor and was made assistant manager in 1958. Jim and Ida May have three girls, Victoria Lynn born January 24, 1954, Marianne who arrived on August 8, 1957, and one-year-old Jamie Elizabeth whose natal day is March 24. Jim sent greetings from Wally Willett also.

Alex Hoffman has deserted the advertising field, we learn, in order to join Lever Brothers Company as a prod- uct manager in the Lever Division. He had been with Compton Advertising, Inc., in New York ever since graduation, starting as media assistant and eventually becoming an account executive, with some of Procter & Gamble's sudsy products in his charge. With wife Marion and offspring Susan, 7, and Peter, 3. Alex is domiciled at 15 Oak Crest Rd., Darien, Conn.

On the financial front Stan Nelson is a member of the public relations department for the thundering herd of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith in New York and recently gave a talk on fundamentals of an investment portfolio to a group of ladies up in Westchester John Dwyer is vice president, secretary, and mortgage loan officer at the Franklin Society Federal Savings and Loan Association. He was an assistant secretary from September 1953 until January 1957 when he was made secretary. John spent three years after Dartmouth at the Guaranty Trust, also in New York. He and Mary Alice (**) are looking forward to reunion but didn't indicate whether John Jr., born September 27, 1955, or Paul, two last February 4, would be along for the ride Recently transplanted to New York, Jim Lyons is with Kidder Peabody & Co.

Found Steve Mahoney's name at the bottom of a book review on Squaw Valley in The Nation.... Vin Hill taught a ten-week course on "Jazz Improvisation" for the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale in March and April. Vin is a graduate of Juilliard, studied with Johnny Mehegan, and in addition to regular club and hotel appearances taught at Columbia's Teachers College last summer Anthony Kesaris is on the executive staff of the United States Golf Association in New York. Bet you can still fluff a five-footer on a sidehill putt despite the good company you keep, Tony! . . . Jim Cavanaugh (*) is assistant treasurer of the Cavanaugh Lumber Co. in Manchester, N. H.

Rev. Dick Petersen has moved to the Cedar Grove (N. C.) Methodist Church.... Rev. Dr. Joseph Sullivan of Albion, N. Y., was a candidate for the pastorate of the Hardwick Federated Church in Gilbertsville, Mass.

Besides reminding you to line up your old roomies and cohorts for the June jaunt to joy in Hanover, we'd like you to consider the needs of the Alumni Fund. Many members of 1950 have further payments to make on the Capital Gifts Campaign or are getting participation credit for their donations. Nonetheless, Dartmouth needs dollars ... lots of 'em ... send 'em!

Happy gardening 'tween now and June!
