Picking a pencil from the picnic basket to do the Sunday Times' crossword puzzle, we suddenly remembered a small chore due for the final issue of the Alumag, so here are a few items to hold you until the leaves begin to turn.
WALKING THE LAST MILE
In New York and San Francisco about April 8 was proclaimed the engagement of Ben Maeck and Miss Charlotte Helene Durkee of Staten Island. The bride-to-be is an administrative assistant at the University of California Hospitals in San Francisco and an alumna of Miami U. in Oxford, Ohio. Ben got his M.D. at Vermont and served a registrarship at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London and a residency in orthopedic surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in NYC. Nuptials were slated for May.
INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ
Word spread near and far that the Greenies were gathering in the Manhattan bistro on 39th Street for fellowship, and nearly thirty stalwarts put in an appearance. DickEchikson lined up a great crew of assistants including Chuck Gardner, Clift Whiteman, and Gerry Sarno who transcribed the census. Class mogul Frank Harrington buzzed down from Worcester to ballyhoo the fall reunion (Brown weekend — do your planning now and get those motel reservations!) noting that foliage and whiskey sours should be at their best then. Space doesn't allow printing all the names here, but Dan Featherston will give it better coverage in his propaganda pages. One who showed up is recently moved Phil Dunbar, formerly at Williamsburg Colonial Restoration and now living in Setauket, Long Island, whence he helps the islanders preserve their antiquities. That's furniture, not maiden aunts. Clarke Bassett is a not-so-new transferee and insists on bread made from flour offered by International Milling. Dan Schausten was trying to peddle a few vacuum cleaners among the guests, but without success according to all reports. You'll clean up yet, Schau! JackSickman made the party - but unfortunately his regular habitats and vocation aren't readily available for reporting. To all the many regulars and irregulars whose names were also on the guest register, apologies for not getting them in here this go-round. Ech and crew must have done a bang-up job, however, and those who failed to check it out ought to get there next year!
Joe Sarno was G.E.'s rep on the sea trials of one of Uncle's newest nuclear subs, the "Abraham Lincoln." Joe and wife, Ben, have' three children, Joan, age nine; Stacy, six; and Joseph Jr. who is four.

The firm makes centrifugal machinery and Bob has been sales manager, vice president, and in 1959 was made treasurer, a post he retains. Well done, old shoe! . . . Jim Moore has left the scrapple regions to become head counsel for a Bostonian electronics outfit, ITEK. Congrats to you, too Jimbo! . . . Bob Burns is also thereabouts with Rath and Strong, Inc.

H., Rotary Rog Frechette was appointed Special Assistant Corporation Counsel by New Haven's mayor back in February. . . . Cornelius A. O'Brien is a sales rep for the Carr Fulflex Company and lives in Bristol, R. I.
Dave Pittinger lives in Birmingham, Mich., and sells in that area for an Iowa-based outfit. Called en route home one Saturday, refused a martini, and we forgot to get the name of his employer. . . . Stan Frederick has gone back to the Pacific Northwest, Seattle, where he's in the investment business with Hill, Darlington and Grimm. John Meehan is sales manager for Diamond Clay Products up in Ontario. . . . Ernie Born is doing his medical practicing in Phoenix.. . . That wraps it up till fall, troops. Two reminders: the Alumni Fund needs your support more than ever, and if you then have some cash left over, hop on the off-year reunion bandwagon for the Brown game weekend (October 13). See ya there???
