Four Birmingham High graduates won the Dartmouth College Award of Merit for their high scholastic standing during their freshman year at college. Dick Bragaw, Pete Brink, Dave Muhlitner and Jim Varnum, members of the class of 1962, were the freshmen whose standing was second in the country in competition against all other secondary schools having four or more first-year men in Hanover.

Representing the Detroit Club David B. Mott '45 made the presentation to Birmingham High School at a recent assembly.
