On March 29, our annual dinner was held at Rock Spring Country Club in West Orange. Fifty-nine Dartmouth men had a plentiful meal which featured Capon Cordon Bleu. Class representation at the dinner ranged from H. F. Jackson '10 through 59ers, Hamersley, Jeminson and Wilson.
Our guest speaker was Professor John Adams, one of Dartmouth's great teachers and a foremost member of his profession in the country. His topic for the evening "Communism-Challenge to the West" was a discourse on the philosophy of Marxism as interpreted by the Russian Communists. Professor Adams pointed out that Russian Communism is an idea which is fostered by a group of men who are more deadly than any we have heretofore met, for they are patient men. The evening's talk proved to be a stimulating subject matter, as questions continued until President Bert Englert adjourned the meeting.
Business of the day included a brief history of our group which was founded in 1914, a Treasurer's report, and the report from the nominating committee chairman Roy Lafferty '15, which nominated your current officers to a second term. The usual "railroading' occurred with President Bert Englert, '42; Vice President Andy Murtha '46; Treasurer Jack Feldman '54; and yours truly, being re-elected.
Our next function will be the family PICNIC on June 4, 1960. As usual, our hospitable host will be Bill Blanchard '30 of New Vernon. Pony rides, sack races and Softball games will be the order of the day. Be sure and reserve this day to assure a very enjoyable family outing. See you June 4th?
