After many years of illness Alma Ward passed away April 3. Johnnie and his family have our sincere sympathy and we share their feeling of relief she is released from her suffering.
Joe O'Leary has written us a most interesting story of the O'Leary family. There were seven children born to Bill and CatherineO'Leary. Kathryn died as a little girl about five years old. The other six children all graduated from the Lawrence High School, and then graduated from college with bachelor's degrees. Later four of them were awarded their Master's degrees. Helen was the oldest and a Simmons graduate. After many years of teaching in the Lawrence High School, under her father who was principal, she passed away in 1957. In 1950 she received her Master's degree from Northwestern. William was the oldest son. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1926 and from the Tuck School in 1928. Soon after graduation he went to California and became president of a bank. Later he was secretary and treasurer of the American Ceramics Products, Inc. and Vice President and Treasurer of the A. C. P. Finance Company of Santa Monica. During World War II he was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. He passed away the same year as his sister Helen.
Joseph was the next oldest and he was a Dartmouth graduate, 1929. For some years he was interested in hotel work and in 1941 received his Master's degree in Accounting from Boston University. He has taught accounting at Loyola University and hotel and restaurant accounting at Michigan State University. At present he is supervisor of Financial Planning for the State Highway Department of the State of Michigan. He resides in Okemos, Mich., on a 100-acre farm with his wife "Peggy." she raises Irish setters, and Toe with the help of a neighbor raises wheat, barley, etc. Joe also served in the Navy and retired with rank of Lieutenant Commander. Laurence J. Jr., familiarly known as Larry, was a hotel man for many years, then became an elementary school principal in Waterford, Me. His class was Dartmouth 1933 and in a year before he died, he received his Master's degree in Education from Boston University. While in Waterford Larry lived across the street from Bunker and Pearl Bishop and he and Bunker became close friends. Carolyn, now Mrs. Cornelius O'Keefe, lives in Randolph, Mass. Her bachelor's degree is from Simmons College. Eileen is the baby of the family and is now Mrs. Henry B. Flaherty and lives at the old home, 10 Swan Street, Lawrence. Her son Larry is the only grandchild. Certainly Laurence "Bill" O'Leary reared a remarkable family, and those of us who knew "Bill" realize how proud he must have been of them all.
Winfred Morgan was a member of this class a part of freshman year. He was born in Rockland, Mass., July i, 1878, and passed away April 3, 1960, at the Plymouth County Hospital, Hanson, Mass. For many years he was an antique dealer in South Hanover.
