It's party time in Philadelphia again! After the Penn game, Saturday, October 7, we'll be back in business among the mummies in the Egyptian Room of the University Museum, across the street from the south side of Franklin Field. The caterer (which Penn insists we have) botched us up last time, but this time we've spent months on negotiations to make sure that this will be the best party ever. We know that Bob Blackman's boys will do their best to make it so!
By the time you read this, our Freshman Send-Off Dinner for the Class of 1965 will be history. We hope attendance made history - because we've got the biggest Philadelphia area delegation ever going to Hanover — 35 strong! With the competition for top boys what it is today, Dr. JohnWolf '27M, Jim Tindle '36, Stew Young '50, Tom Malcoim '54, and all of their cohorts deserve all the credit we can give them.
If you weren't on hand on Monday, September 11, to see the Class of 1965 off, you've got nobody to blame but yourself. Greg Nahill '64 was the speaker, and we had the latest Dartmouth movies.
Part of the job of cementing relations with the Class of 1965 took place at JimTindle's Valley Forge Farm on Sunday afternoon, May 14. Jim played host to the acceptees and their dads. Representing Hanover was Bill Craver, varsity wrestling coach and freshman football line coach.
Just over a month later, Jim Tindle '36 also hosted the Annual Club Family Picnic on Saturday afternoon, June 24. The weather wasn't promising that morning, which may have scared some away. But it was fine by the time over 200 alumni, undergraduates, wives, dates, and children descended on the scene. There was swimming and beer, sunning and beer, hot dogs and beer, etc., and beer. Bob Boyd '54 did a magnificent job on the arrangements.
