Word has been received from the step daughter of Charles (Chuck) H. Wood that he passed away on January 31 of this year. Chuck was with us for only one year and little is known of his activities since leaving Dartmouth. It is believed that he was living at Arleta, Calif., at the time of his death.

Houghton and Ann Carr had expected to attend our fall reunion at Woodstock and had made reservations at the Inn. Fate, however, intervened and Ann passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital on September 21 following a brief illness. Ann was president for many years of the Women's Guild of the Church of St. John the Evangelist where she had been active in parish work. She was also a past president of the Parents Association of Derby Academy. The sincere sympathy of members of 1917 has been extended to Houghton.

Those who attended our September 29 - October 1 reunion at Woodstock have something to remember and talk about all winter. The group was slightly smaller than a year ago but those on hand were quite unanimous in proclaiming it to be one of the best of the fall parties. We were treated to three days of glorious New England weather, a fact which made sitting in the stadium Saturday afternoon a particularly pleasant experience, and of course, Dartmouth's victory over New Hampshire added much to the occasion.

Ralph and Ethel Sanborn were the first to arrive, reaching Woodstock on the Sunday preceding the reunion. Jo Weeks was the next to arrive, getting to Woodstock Thursday afternoon in time to attend a country supper with the Brookses. Everyone had checked in by dinner time on Friday and, as might be expected, an informal cocktail party developed before dinner. The evening was devoted to chatting and a bit of singing.

Saturday morning the entire group took off for Hanover and the game, many of them enjoying a barbecued chicken luncheon served by the local Rotary Club on the green across the street from the stadium. Upon our return to Woodstock we staged another cocktail party before sitting down to one of the White Cupboard's delicious roast beef dinners.

Following dinner the men gathered for a meeting of the Executive Committee at which our new Chairman, Bill Eaton, presided. Jack Saladine, who has spent count-less hours mapping out plans for the conduc of the next Alumni Fund campaign, outlined his ideas and objectives, and they were well received by those present. A proposal which had been submitted by GilSwett that the treasurer be authorized to transfer $1,OOO of Class funds to the Class of 1917 Memorial Fund was discussed, but it was decided to make no change in our present program. A vote of thanks was extended to Bill Sewall for the fine job he did in making our recent reunion such a success, financially and otherwise. Vic Smith submitted one of his customary fine reports on the collection of Class dues, and the other officers present made more or less routine reports.

It was particularly nice to have two of our Class widows, Jo Weeks and Ruth Sisson, with us on this occasion. They stayed with the Brookses but took part in all activities and according to their own admissions, had a wonderful time. Looking forward to another year, it is hoped that they and others in their position will favor us with their presence as they added much to the fun of the party.

Those who stayed at the Inn included Sumner and Charlotte Emerson, Mose andPauline Hutchins, Sandy and Tommy Lynch,Norm and Mary McCulloch, Pete and LucyOlds, Guy and Marjorie Richardson, JackSaladlne, Ralph and Ethel Sanborn, Vic andIrene Smith, Skinny and Dorothy Sturtevant,Barney and Adele Thielscher, Errol andDorothy Thompson and Gene and LucileTowler.

Hank and Polly Loudon joined us for dinner Saturday evening. Bob and Gail Boynton, Bill Eaton, Jo Weeks, Ruth Sisson and the Brookses were on hand for dinner both evenings, and Duke and Dot Howe with Duke's brother, Willis Howe '06, were there Saturday evening.

DISTAFF CHATTER! Well, I don't know about the other gals but I shall never be quite the same again. The wives who attended the fall party know what I mean, but for the benefit of those who could not make it, Saturday night will go down in the archives as the night that Mary McCulloch and Gail Boynton decided to pep up the party. While the men were in serious conclave in the dining room we were treated to a series of charades that rocked the rafters and nearly broke up the business meeting. Unfortunately, Helen Birtwell was not there with her camera and Marjorie Richardson had just used up the last of her film so it will not be preserved for posterity, but with the aid of a few properties found in a White Cupboard closet those two gals put on a show! And then there was Jo Weeks, valiantly trying to take the place of Bob Scott in the quartet. It was good to see TommyLynch and Sandy, and to have a little extra visit with them and Adele and BarneyThielscher Sunday afternoon. The other gals who have been with us at these fall parties in the past were really missed, and it is hoped that they will all rejoin us another year.
