I finally got word from "Joe" Carney, transmitted through Catherine. He is still attending to business and was going to Gardner once a week to the Thayer Inc. office. Feeling very well, all things considered. At the time this information reaches you, they will be at 104 Andrews Avenue, Delray Beach, Fla., for the winter. They will welcome anyone from the Class of 1898.

"Mel" Smith writes that his niece, Miss Eleanor Hoft, has come from Melrose, Mass., to keep him company and care for him in his home. They motored to Hollis, N. H., on the occasion of his grand-niece's marriage, driving over five thousand miles, including side trips in Massachusetts and New Jersey. I assume from his letter that he did the driving.
