Hows about visiting Hanover April 28 and 29 this spring? The Class needs a little shot in the arm, and you're invited to sit with the Executive Committee that fine weekend to administer the long, thin needle. Carl von Pechman, Class Chairman, doesn't quite put it that way. It's a sort of off-schedule reunion centered around some business sessions in Crosby Hall, Friday at 8 P.M. Wives are welcome.

Have you ever wanted to quit smoking .. . well, quit.. . that's all. I did, I think, two weeks ago. Least-wise I haven't had a smoke in fourteen days. I had been talking about quitting for twenty years. You know... darned filthy habit; makes me short of breath; it's expensive; makes my mouth muddy; two packs a day is crazy, and any and all other sayings that surround cigarette smoking. So ... I quit, quit, quit, d'ya hear. That was two weeks ago. Today, I was taking deep breaths up on my toes when I noticed my kids smuggle in a strait-jacket. Mother tipped them well for the find. 'The crisis is at hand," Mother counseled the young ones. "Either your father smokes again or we fit him into this restraining robe." How perfectly silly of the woman to think I'd need restraint; and how happily all ended when it was learned that all I needed was five pounds of Hershey chocolate, six eclair, a ton of sweet licorice ... per diem, of course. So, that's the only outcome I could recommend on smoking. Just quit. And then shoot yourself.

Charlie Hitchcock has been made Senior Associate with Metcalf and Eddy of Boston on January 1. Well, Mr. Metcalf and Mr. Eddy, that's what we call recognizing a damn good man.

Johnny Nelson has joined with Alfred Hartford and Arthur Blair to form an accounting firm with offices in Concord and Manchester, N. H.

Tohn McLane has married Elizabeth Towner Deane of South Lincoln, Mass. An alumna of Smith College, the bride is a photographer of children. The groom is a partner in the law firm of McLane, Carleton, Graf, Green and Brown of Manchester, N. H.

T. Clarke Mattimore has resigned from Kenyon and Eckhardt to become president o£ the Public Relations Firm of Robert Mullen, Inc. with offices here and abroad.

" "Hamilton Mitchell hit the jackpot. He has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of the Reuben Donnelley Corporation. I guess that makes him Grover Fox's top boss., among other things that could be easier. The company handles the famous telephone directories, direct mail campaigns, magazine publishing and merchandising. As we recall, Life Magazine is run on their presses for Midwest distributions.

John Ahern reports all well with the hope that Bob Bott lets us know what goes on where.

I Bob Reno writes that Hoby Rockwell is in Brazil prospecting for industrial diamonds near Bello Horizonte. Bob writes that skiing is wonderful as is "politics wonderful and awesome." Bob is the kind of guy we need in politics. Come on, Robert. Get elected to something big so we can start the Reno bandwagon.

Bill Lyle dropped by the office a week ago. He's a top guy in Lord Baltimore Press, living in Greenwich, Conn. Another Bill, this time, William L. Bartlett writes from Palo Alto, Calif., that he's loving the real estate business and doing a lot of fishing, sailing, woodworking and oil painting with wife, Katherin and daughters, Joyce and Marlyn. Bill, a Navy veteran of nearly five years, is active in the Dartmouth Club of San Francisco.

Doug Carroll is the father of five kids and is a very successful city planner... . Most of his recent work has been in Chicago and Pittsburgh, two well-planned cities, if you ask me.

Had dinner recently with Gil Tanis, the Executive Officer of Dartmouth College. Here is a guy we can be proud of. (You'll never catch me ending with a preposition.) Gil has his feet hard on the ground. He has a businessman's approach to an educator's problems, and he is another Dartmouth administrator who leaves a very good feeling when he visits and after he has returned to Hanover Plain.

As for your Secretary...did I tell you I quit smoking.... Nothin' to it. Try it yourself. Yes, Sir. Pardon me, now. I want to try that new jacket on. Bye.

Secretary, 2945 Fairmount Cleveland 18, Ohio

Treasurer, Hunter Lane, Rye, N. Y.
