Beyond any doubt, "Dartmouth Was In Town" for Ted and Patti Spiegel's Chicago wedding on February 4. The accompanying photograph is testimony to 43 Indians (21 of them '53s) being on tap for this memorable occasion.
It would seem to many of us that this might well be one of the largest Dartmouth groups ever in attendance at a Dartmouth wedding. Certainly Ted and Patti were given a tremendous send-off for which Ted seems to be quite happy and vocal. Those in the bridal party were ushers Charlie Buchanan,Gene Gabianelli, Jack Senne, and Butch Edgar.
Many of the gang in this picture came from far and wide and some fought extremely bad weather conditions to make this occasion - all pointing up the fact that a topnotch classmate and guy was being honored on the day he took his bride.
As far as we know this is a record for the number of alumni in a wedding picture. There were 36 photographed at the wedding of Ted Spiegel '53 and Patricia Williams in Chicago. The group includes (l to r) seated, Gene Gabianelli '53, Jack Senne '33; kneeling or seated, second row, Larry Lewis '53, Charlie Buchanan '53, Modie Spiegel '22, the groom, the bride, Sherman Barnett '25, Butch Edgar '53; standing, third row, John Newey '52, Bill Biggs '52, Joe Migely '54, Fred Stephens '53, Paul Arenberg '53, John Schurman '54, Fred Whittemore '53, Charlie Faulkner '34, Jack Tukey '53, Paul Paganucci '53, Chuck Kettering'53, Tom Trager '53, Jim Cobb '53, George Schmitt '55, Dick Loewenthal '53, Don Bowey '55, Blair Woolfolk (Wesleyan '53), Jack Huck '53, Dick Calkins '53, Gib Warren '53, Ned Hoban '54, John Spiegel '34, Ross Robbins '55, Bob Gluek '54 (hidden), Skip Grinton '54, Bob Engelman '34, Tony Newey '56 (hidden), and Bill Vitalis '53.
