WITH THE BIG GREEN TEAMS
March 1962

THE Dartmouth sports picture has changed very little in the last month. In fact it might be termed status quo. Except for the swimming team which has split even in four meets, the other winter teams have found rough sledding, losing more contests than they have won. Despite the poor overall showing, however, there continues to be an occasional spark of brilliance when either a team or an individual athlete displays full potential. Such was the case when the basketball team upset Cornell 60-58, when the hockey team came from behind to beat Princeton 6-3, when the swimmers almost sank Navy, and when the track team came close to edging Harvard.

But before we get too far into this month's column, we should mention the team that is winning, namely the ski team, headed by a young man named Jim Page who may well be one of Dartmouth's finest skiers. Only a junior, Page led his teammates to victory in both the Williams and Dartmouth Winter Carnivals, gaining three first places in each meet. A closer look at the Dartmouth Winter Carnival follows later on. First let's turn to the last four weeks in other sports.
