April 1962 HARRY B. JOHNSON, CHARLES I. LAMPEE

To the brethren north of Mason Dixon line these notes are being written in sweltering heat of 85 degrees, February 25, Sunday and later your Secretary will be sitting in the grandstands watching the Dodgers play baseball.

Robbie and Hope Robinson arrived in Vero Beach a week ago - came by train, plane grounded in Boston because of bad weather. It's wonderful to have them in town so we can visit often.

Classmates will remember with deep respect Rev. John Nolan. He was the Rector of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Springfield, Mass. He passed away in 1947. "Father John," as he was affectionately known by the boys of the 104 th Regiment, served them as Chaplain for over twenty years and the entire Springfield community held him in deep reverence and respect. In my notes in the fiftieth reunion report, I stated "this was a personality which will endure and make itself felt for generations to come." Recently, Bishop Hatch of the diocese of Western Massachusetts dedicated Nolan Hall to the memory of our "Jack," the founder and first priest in charge of St. Luke's Mission, a large picture of "Father John" and a commemorative plaque have been placed in the parish hall; thus does a lifetime of devoted "Service to the Great Master" live after one. "Blessed are they who serve in the Lord." The Secretary is grateful to Rev. Charlie Tubbs who served as a Curate with John, for this information.

Your Secretary has the sad duty to report the deaths of two of our classmates, BernieBoyle of New Port Richey, Fla., and ArthurE. Sayles, Wollaston, Mass. Bernie had been ill for a long time - much of which he spent in a wheelchair. He had the loving care of a devoted wife who has written the Secretary of his constant interest and regard for Dartmouth and his classmates. He never missed a contribution to the Alumni Fund from the inception of the Fund. See his Obituary in this or a subsequent issue.

Arthur Sayles, to all of us remembered as "Nut Sayles," retired from business four years ago from Filene's in Boston. He rarely was able to get to round-ups or reunions. One remembers seeing "Nut" walking across the Campus always attended by either Louie Perry, Dutch Rock or Walter Russell - Alpha Delts - none of them ever made Phi Beta Kappa, but, what a wonderful time they shared together. All of them have passed on. See his Obituary in this or a subsequent issue.
