Josh Clark has been rewarded for a labor of love, as you may have read in the last issue. Not only has he been 1911's most efficient class agent during more than two terms of service, but his record of increasing membership in the Dartmouth Educational Association from less than 200 to more than 1200 is a phenomenal accomplishment. Our congratulations to him.
The sad news this month was the death of Walter Morgan in Norton, Mass., where he and Cora have been comfortably situated in a nursing home where Walter could receive good care. Even when his legs began to give way under him he continued to carry on his church work and his writing. It was a great regret to him that he could not attend his fiftieth reunion. Cora has returned to her old address - 20 Front St., Walpole, Mass.
The line for registration for the Mountain View has already formed at headquarters in Florida and includes the Jack Russells, the Jack Steeves, the Ken Kaapps, the AmosCrooks and the Burleighs. To this list I know sixteen other couples from earlier commitments that may be added but rather than be accused of forgery let them submit their own names. Again, the dates are from June 23 to 27, or longer. This a plea to you sixteen to confirm or deny this statement. I will send your names on to Schuyler Dodge although you should make your own reservations later.
Would you like to know what a typical day in a secretary's life is like? Take Monday, Feb. 19, for instance. At eleven Ned and Charlotte Kenerson '03 drove in, soon followed by Jack and Hazel Russell. We were through lunch when Jack and GraceCrooks graced our doorway but before they could get away Ken and Dorothy Knapp were here. Later in the afternoon Paul and Glad Smith '15 and a retired French professor and wife helped pass the time. Jack andDorothy Steeves ensconced at the Belleview Biltmore had another engagement as did the Dick Chases. Troy and Janet Parker sojourning on Sanibel Island got tangled up in the Gasparilla parade so we must await another day to enjoy their company. The next day started off merrily when the 1912 reunion committee with some cohorts arrived preparatory to the Big 1912 Get Ready for Reunion Party at Al Smith's on the Gulf.
It was a delight as always to have a brief visit from Gene and Catherine Fuller on their way from Palm Beach to California. They plan a leisurely trip before returning to Chicago. Gene has already published three volumes of poetry. Many of these tell of interesting places and events which they have visited. There will probably be more on the way when this trip is done.
This is a special invitation to our gracious widows and that includes you all. Please feel sure that you will be most welcome to join us at the Mountain View in June. We will welcome you with open arms.
