We'll confine this month's notes to some important fill-ins and P.S.'s on our coming Reunion (June 11 to 13 ... just two months away) and postpone the miscellaneous bits till May.
First, a low and late bow to all the Committee who've been working hard for months now, on the many and varied and intricate pieces that eventually fit together to spell Class Reunion. Harold (the eligible) Trefethen is Walt Rankin's co-chairman ...
and, among other duties, is in charge of the "Exhibition of Post-Graduate Extra-Curricular Activities." (See below.) Bob Carr is in charge of the Lake Morey Inn outing and party, Tuesday afternoon and evening. RussClark is treasurer. Joe Batchelder, HerbRedman and John St. Clair are committee- men-at-large, with large and varied responsibilities.
The "Extra-Curricular Activities Exhibit" mentioned above is actually a display of hobbies or collections that any classmates and/or wives may be able and willing to exhibit. This idea was advanced last summer by Ritchie Smith and Del Worthington.Sid Hayward did some exploratory work with the College, and found that Elmer Harp, Director of the Museum, was very much interested, and would make Museum space available. So return Tref's questionnaire ... affirmatively, if you possibly can.
Regarding another Reunion exhibit, DickMandel writes as follows: -
We have just completed arrangements for the 1-926 Memorial Collection to be exhibited in the Treasure Room of. the Library over our reunion 'June 11, 12, and 13. At present we have over seventy volumes which is an excellent start. Some of the books are quite rare and all of them together are sufficient to supply researchers in our field of early New England book illustration with valuable material. One scholar has already made use of our collection. We have received a number of gifts, both monetary and in book form, from classmates and other alumni. These are in addition to the $1 gifts that are combined with our class dues. All of these gifts will be entered in our Memorial Book which also contains a current listing of the deceased members of our class. This book will be exhibited along with our collection.
A bit of fill-in on the Reunion program for Tuesday, June 12. The complete schedule is as follows: - 8 to 9 A.M., breakfast at Thayer with '27 and '28. 10 A.M., Memorial Service at the White Church, Rev.Richard "Wee" McClintock conducting. 10:30 A.M., Hanover Holiday lecture. 11:30 A.M., Class picture. Then on to Lake Morey for an informal afternoon, and a 6:30 Class dinner at the Lake Morey Inn. (Our "formal" Class meeting will be held in conjunction with this dinner.) After that, a Players performance in Hanover... or "what will you have" at Lake Morey.
Truly, a day to remember. So don't forget it. And don't forget those Reunion dates: June 11-12-13.
