Shortly after relieving Pete Scott as Head Class Agent, Ed Larner made an urgent appeal for volunteers to assist him in reaching the class goal for the 1962 Alumni Fund Drive, $15,330, which is more than 50% above our 1961 results. This is a herculean task which will require plenty of teamwork and cooperation. Ed's aim was to accumulate a group of 75 assistant class agents in order to assure the successful operation of our class campaign. Although the response to his initial request for this assistance was most encouraging, a large number of classmates did not reply. Come on folks, let us all put our shoulder to the wheel and give Ed the much-needed assistance he deserves in his first year as Head Class Agent. All cannot act as assistant class agents. But everyone can assure Ed the realization of his conviction that the combined efforts of everyone in the class will result in improved participation and in a substantial increase in the amount of individual gifts.

Another recent recipient of a managerial appointment was Bill English, who was recently appointed footwear superintendent at the Woonsocket, R. I., plant of the U. S. Rubber Co. Bill has been with U. S. Rubber since leaving the Air Force in 1946. Since 1956 he has held the position of industrial engineering manager of this plant.
Recently public attention has been focused on the accomplishments of the "fly-boys." Therefore it is fitting that one of our own should also be the worthy recipient of a high award of the United States Air Force. Col. Phil Hallam was presented the Commendation Medal by the Vice-Commander of Air Training Command Headquarters in recognition of his meritorious performance of duty as executive officer to the Chief-of- Staff at Headquarters, Air Training Com- mand, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. The presentation was made at Wakefield, Mass., thus permitting Phyllis and the five children to hop over from Arlington for this memorable occasion.
Another one of our distinguished colonels is now a Texan by adoption. Col. Ed Marks is presently assigned to Headquarters III, U. S. Army Corps at Fort Hood. Ed's previous assignment was at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. Other gold-braided luminaries who have been relocated within the past year are Capt. George Schroeder of the Air Force from Longview, Texas, to Vacaville, Calif.; and Major Paul Badger, also of the Air Force, from Columbus, Ohio, to Omaha, Neb. Major Roger Haley of the Air Transport Service has returned from an overseas assignment to the Travis Air Force Base in California.
Charlie Chaput's medical practice is growing with such rapidity that he had to open a second office to accommodate his patients. Charlie is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. Since 1951 his base of operations has been Haverhill, Mass., where he has been associated in practice with his father, one of the city's leading surgeons, and where he is a consultant on the surgical staff of Hale Hospital. Recently Charlie opened a second office in Amesbury, where he is a consultant at the Amesbury Hospital.
Chuck Carleton is now a resident of Seineet Oise France. One of his first official acts as a Parisian was to join the Dartmouth club of Paris. Chet Williams has also moved to foreign shores. His new position of Educational Planning Adviser has taken him to Mogadiscio, Somali Republic, Horn of Africa.
There are only two more issues of class notes to go before the summer "breather" arrives. I would like to pack these issues with plenty of news about lots of classmates, particularly those we have not heard from for a long time. So please give me a helping hand in this regard.
