June and July 1994 were unforgettable months for the Morrissey elders in Hanover. On June 9, at age 93, Len Sr. fell and broke his right hip. On June 1792-year-old wife Margaret fell down three steps and broke her left wrist.
On June 10 Len had a hip-joint relocation at impressive Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital. The new hospital adds to the prestige of the Dartmouth Medical School, fourth oldest in the U.S.A. After ten days' hospitalization the patient was moved to Hanover Terrace Healthcare, where he stayed for six weeks. He returned home on August 2 accompanied by an ever-present walker.
The two patients were well recovered in time to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary in early autumn with three sons and nine grandchildren—seven boys and two girls.
With deep regret we have received word of the death of Marjorie Rankin Smith, wife of our Spenny, in Atlanta, Ga., on June 15. Her father, Walter P. Rankin, was in the class of 1900, and her brothers were Walter '26 and Andrew '27.
