A lovely daughter of the Hanover EarlWards, Constance Jean, was married in January to John Doyle Anderson ... and the Class wishes the fine couple Great Days.

Dig down ... right now ... and send off your check to the College for the 1962 Alumni Fund Campaign. Yes, it's up again, but what isn't. The goal is $1,250,000, and it can be made if you'll stretch just a little bit. Dartmouth is competing with big dough for faculty, facilities, and programs, and it takes more than a million bucks annually from the Fund to do it. But, this base of a million and a quarter is a must. You'll hear the details from the agents. I just want to say that we're going into a few Ph.D. programs, and monies are sorely needed to program Hopkins Center and assist the Tucker Foundation in spiritual programs.

Warren G. Flynn has been appointed an assistant vice president with First National City Bank. He is presently assigned to the Metropolitan Division as a marketing consultant at the bank's Park Avenue headquarters. Prior to joining the bank, Warry was associated with J. Walter Thompson Company, the Earl Newson and Co. and the Market Research Corporation of American. He is currently secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Westchester. OK, Veep!

One of Dartmouth's mistakes was teaching Y. P. Dawkins how to write. He's copied my questionnaire, and is giving me many a scoop in that sheet called the Pace Setter. Anyway, it's my pleasure to note that the IBM kid has made Vice President... and that ain't bad. Guess he must have learned to read too since leaving Hanover ... musta' been the Army.

A favorite guy is Don Wilson of Bronxville, N. Y. It goes back a long time...to the days when the Fabulous Five walked as one into Campions. Usually Hull was in front; followed by Bob Kelly, then TomDuffy, and Wilson and, finally, Don Boyle. I always smiled when I met this amicable quintet as a body . .. you know, easy way to get along. They could teach Charm School to any wise guy ... and I was charming enof. Oh yea, Wilson ... he'd like to know about Kelly, the San Joaquin rancher. According to Dawkins, Kelly is moving from the ranch to Del Monte so that the kids can be near good schools. Now, how do you like that. Ya ever been to Del Monte; well, I have. If that ain't the plushiest, I just ain't. And Kelly is going to live on the 17-mile-Drive. That scenic alley is loaded with Cyprus and Cadillacs. Don't even ride it unless you got a chauffeur. So Wilson tells us he is a trial lawyer on industrial cases for insurance companies. Doing fine and the girls, Susie, Melinda and Dee are fine ... as is his pretty, blonde bride.

Kelly Hill, maybe it is Dr. Carl, Dean of Tuck School, writes about his son, Allen a Dartmouth senior, and Jack, a Bowdoin freshman, and that all goes well in Hanover. He and I cross fresh tracks in the General Electric Company, but never meet. Tuck exchanges information with men in the Company.

Jack Ahern sees Harry Ham, ParkerBrownell and Royce Randlett in the Boston Courts. Herb Harries airport - called to report that all's well in Bally, Pa., where he is an owner of a textile business. The Reserve Marine Colonel and Emily have two girls and a boy: Barbara and Nancy. The little guy is Bert.

The Garlock Packing Company of Rochester, N. Y., has named Ed Thomas sales manager. He'll move from Detroit sales to the Up-state N. Y. City.

Kingsley Birge has been named a full professor in sociology at Colby College in Maine. He is also chairman of the socy department, holding a Ph.D. from Yale.

Down Baltimore way Julius Westheimer has joined Baker, Watts and Co. in investment work. Charlie Main moves to Charlotte, N. C., from Boston as an executive of the Charles T. Main, Inc., a family engineering firm.

I am not supposed to write about my competitors, even talk to them, but the lawyers can overlook this one. Bill Bennett has been named Controller of the General Telephone and Electronics Corporation, switching over from a similar post with Colgate-Palmolive Company. Bill and his wife and their four children live in Morristown, N. J. Say hello to George Griffin for us, Bill.

Ben Ames Williams Jr. has been named a Director of Ginn and Company, Boston Publishers. Ben is a Vice President of the First National Bank there.

This vice president ascendancy on the part of our classmates is getting indicative of our ages or something ... maybe talent ... or title in lieu of cash ... anyway, another one made it. It's Bud Walls and he's assistant vice president of Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company's Agency Department. Hans Barber, math major and insurance administrator, ran for Masconomet, Mass., school board ... and we'll bet he made it.

This is refreshing, and it's about a great guy ... long overdue in this column. And, when I mean great guy ... I really mean it! It's Charlie Keyes ... ole Malone, N. Y., himself. Why, we sat together when we first took entry IQs in Carpenter in 1934. Well, Charlie's been made an officer of the State National Bank of Connecticut in Bridgeport and lives in Darien. We'll look for you soon, Charlie. Hope you ain't mad ... as we haven't heard from you in ages. If it'll make you feel any better, I'm not as bummy as I used to be. Incidentally, Keyes was the sixth man who walked into Campions behind the Fabulous Five.

Comes the strange and inunderstandable part of living ... dying. Word has been received that William Schopflin died in September in Kansas City, Mo., of brain cancer. Compounding this sad word is news that Victor Cutter also passed away in late February. As a newspaperman I was trained to handle obituaries, but they were never as hard to write as now in the Secretary's slot. But, we'll have details for the next issue.

Keep the Faith, Men.
