The fourth building in the Medical School complex, the new library, will start taking shape during the summer on the site formerly occupied by the Dewey farmhouse. With the Kellogg Auditorium nearing September completion, the foundations of Strasenburgh Hall well underway, and now with the ground breaking of the new library in immediate prospect, the Medical School area should assume the appearance of a contractor's paradise this summer.

Although we have no intentions of usurping the functions of the obituary column, two of our alumni died recently whose lives of service are wonderful examples for younger physicians. William J. Nolan M'09 recently finished his 53 years of service in Omaha, Nebraska. Even more noteworthy, Harry M. Lowd M'01 died suddenly while treating a patient on April 11 - after 61 years of active practice. Even in their sorrow, the families of these men must take great pride in these records, just as we fellow alumni do.

Tim has been doing research in surgical stapling devices for blood vessels and lungs. Walt is our Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery who is serving as Chief of the Surgical Service at the White River Veterans Hospital. Don Brown M' 46, presently involved in work in group psychotherapy in San Francisco, is flirting with the idea of spending some time in the East this fall. Frank Weiser M'55 keeps fairly busy with his Fellowship in Cardiology; instructing in medicine at New York Medical; appointments at Mount Sinai, Beth Israel, Elmhurst City, and Metropolitan Hospitals; plus private practice in medicine and cardiology. John Monahan M'56 is now in his fourth year of Orthopaedics around Children's and the Massachusetts General in Boston, and reports that Kay is now out of the hospital after a severe illness.
