During the summer period, since the last issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, there has been such an abundance of newsworthy developments and activities involving Tuck faculty and alumni that we are forced by space limitations to spread our reporting of these items over the next few issues. Bear with us on the time lag and we will do the best we can.
In June, Dean Hill delivered the Commencement address at Nichols College of Business Administration in Dudley, Mass. Professor Olsen is a trustee of this institution. In September, Dean Hill was one of a small group of business school deans invited to attend a conference in Aspen, Colo., sponsored by the Committee for Economic Development.
Mr. Griswold served as chairman of a panel on Corporate Planning at the International Congress on Credit, in Toronto, May 13.
Also in May, Mr. Guest gave two speeches at the conference in Washington, D. C., for senior government executives, on "Techniques for Conserving Manpower," sponsored by the Executive Office of the President.
Mr. Broehl and Mr. Bower participated in the development of the first annual executive seminar for top management personnel sponsored by The New Hampshire Manufacturers Association and the Associated Industries of Vermont, with the assistance of the New England Council, held in Hanover on May 24 and 25. The seminar theme was "Competition Today: Basic Concepts and Practical Problems."
Mr. Mayer presented a paper entitled "Pretesting the Cost Implications of Alternate Field Interviewing Plans Through Computer Simulation" before the 18th annual conference of the American Association for Public Opinion Research on May 17 at Lake George, N. Y.
Nathaniel Leverone '06, retired chairman of the board of the Automatic Canteen Company and donor of the Nathaniel Leverone Field House, spoke to all first- and secondyear Tuck students on May 3.
Larry Kugelman T'24 has been named general manager of woodlands for the International Paper Company, New York City. Paul Jameson T'30 has been elected vice president-finance and administration of National Distillers and Chemical Corporation, New York City. Kirt Meyer T'31 has been appointed to the new post of manager of Macy's Herald Square store, with rank as a vice president. Henry AJlen '34 is now vice president and general manager of the electric motor division, A. O. Smith Corporation, Milwaukee, Wis.
Paul Woodberry T'50 became treasurer and controller of the overseas chemical division of W. R. Grace & Company, Cambridge, Mass., as of June 1. John HausmanT'53 has been appointed manager of the forward plans department for Ford Motor Company's finance staff. Henry NachmanT'55 has been named marketing manager of the Commerce Drag Company division of Maradel Products, Inc., New York City. Charlie Hulsebosch T'56 was appointed assistant to treasurer of United Fruit Company, Boston, effective June 1. John Kingsland T'58 has been elected vice president of White, Weld & Co., Inc. Larry HamptonT'59 and John Ferries T'60 have both become associated with Benton & Bowles, Inc., New York City, in account management. Bill Merkle T'59 has become associated with General Foods as an organization development consultant in the Birds Eye Division, White Plains.
