Club Officers Meet
NOVEMBER 1963

NEVER before have so many Dartmouth clubs been represented at Dartmouth Club Officers weekend and never before have they had the opportunity to take back to their organizations so complete a picture of today's Dartmouth. After two days of briefings by a dozen College officers and faculty members, the 68 club presidents and secretaries, representing 44 clubs, and their 52 wives were weary but certainly well informed about College affairs. Added to this was the excitement of the opening gridiron thriller with Bucknell and the pleasant relaxation of the informal reception and buffet, with music by the Injunaires, which followed at the DOC House.

The weekend began at 6 p.m., Thursday, at a dinner in Alumni Hall where the two-day program was outlined by William B. Squier '40, president of the Club Officers Association. That evening the visiting club representatives heard President Dickey and Dean of Summer Programs Waldo Chamberlin. Friday was a day of fast moves from one part of the campus to the other and talks by physics Prof. William T. Doyle, mathematics Prof. John G. Kemeny, government Prof. Laurence I. Radway (co-director of the new Center for Comparative Studies), English Prof. John Stewart (also associate director of the Hopkins Center), drama Prof. James H. Clancy, Provost John W. Masland, Dean Thaddeus Seymour, and several undergraduates in addition to a tour of the Medical School. Director of Admissions Edward T. Chamberlain '36 was the after-dinner speaker Friday evening and was followed by a panel discussion on club participation in the College's enrollment program.

Saturday morning saw a continuation of workshop sessions on club membership and club programs, followed by a business meeting and the election of new officers. Officers elected for the coming year are: President, Richard S. Carr Jr. '49, secretary of the New Haven, Conn., Club; Vice President, William W. Parmer '42, president of the Bergen County, N. J., Club; Secretary, J. Michael McGean '49 of Hanover; Executive Committee, these three officers and Glendon A. Fuller '19, secretary of the Pioneer Valley (Mass.) Club; Perry C. Weston '54, secretary of the Southern California Club; and Michael R. Pender '47, president of the Long Island Club.

The annual award for the best club president went to Robert H. Zeiser '49 of the Providence, R. I., Club, and the award for the best secretary of the year was given to Harlow T. Munson '48 of Washington, D. C. Their citations will be found with their respective class columns in this issue.
