The sophomore-dominated Dartmouth soccer team has continued to show steady improvement, but the Indian booters are still looking for victory number one. In three contests, the Green has managed only one goal and that was against Middlebury in the opener.

Based on their showing, however, the Indians should win a few games before the season is over. Middlebury took the first game 5-1. Ron Knapp scored the one and only goal of the season. A strong Penn team then shut out the Green 5-0 and an undefeated Brown soccer team defeated Dartmouth 3-0.

Fullback Ivars Bebris, who was injured in a climbing accident during the summer, has returned and he along with other veterans Knapp, Lee Chilcote, John Carpenter, Russ Turmail, and Pete Thomsen, may still form the basis for an offensive scoring punch.

Coach Whitey Burnham's team is much weaker this year on defense. Last year in eleven games only thirteen goals were scored against the Green. This year, that many have been registered in three games.

The new pool in the east wing of the gym, shown here just before it was openedfor public inspection on the Brown game weekend, has diving boards at four levels, ample seating for meets, an extra-long lane for distance swimming. And it's lovely!
