A rare handwritten manuscript by the 18th Century French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau has been given to the Library. The manuscript was located in London this summer by Prof. Herbert F. West, director of the Friends of the Dartmouth Library, and was purchased by Miss Irmgard Kuntze, of Hanover and Florida, and given to the College in memory of the Rev. Ambrose White Vernon, founder of Dartmouth's Department of Biography. Miss Kuntze is the niece of Dr. Vernon, who was Professor of Biography from 1924 to 1932.
