Your class president, Jim O'Neill, is to be congratulated. A student for the doctor's degree in the Graduate School of the University of Wisconsin, chose as the subject for his Ph.D. thesis. Jim's "Contribution to Speech Education." The thesis was directed by one of the professors of speech who took her Ph.D. under Jim's direction nearly thirty years ago. The writer is Eugene Covelli, whom Jim had never met until he came to Lakeville to interview him. He did a good job and got his Ph.D. degree in June, 1961. Dr. Covelli is now on the faculty of Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis.
The major professor, Dr. Gladys Boschers, sent Jim two bound copies of the typewritten thesis, one for him, and one for the alumni collection in Baker Library, to put with the copies of Jim's books. Now if any of you classmates want the "low down" on Jim, it can be found in Baker. Congratulations are now in order.

It looks like our classmate has reached the retiring age, like the rest of us.
