The Gold Room of the Sheraton Cleveland Hotel was the scene of the largest Dartmouth gathering in the 53-year history of this Association's annual Christmas Luncheon. At 12:00 noon on December 27, alumni, undergraduates, applicants ,to the class of 1967, and their fathers began to gather for a Dartmouth afternoon, and the steady influx did not cease until Rev. Richard Bucey '51 stood to bless the 304 friends of Dartmouth assembled before him. It was truly gratifying to note not only the enthusiasm of the Cleveland area alumni, but also the fact that the Dartmouth name is becoming a well-known one in so many of this area's high schools (evidenced by the presence of some 85 applicants and 60 fathers who were anxious to learn more about our college).

The Association President, Raymond M.Barker Jr. '52, opened the formal part of the program with a welcome to all present and a few words concerning some recent innovations at the College. He then introduced Scott Little '63 who gave an extremely well-prepared, interesting, and inspiring talk about the developments and changes that he has witnessed in his three and a half years in Hanover. He urged the young high school men before him to try the "Dartmouth experience." As he said it, in summary, "you won't regret one minute of it, and who knows the changes that you may behold?"

Dean Emeritus Joseph McDonald, the featured speaker, entertained us with stories of some of the more personal aspects of life at Dartmouth. He explained that, in the time allotted him, he couldn't possibly relate all of the changes that he had witnessed in 35 years at Dartmouth. He did discuss a few of these not mentioned by Mr. Little, as well as some of his most interesting experiences with the student body during his tenure as dean. As always, Cleveland enjoyed this visit by an old friend, and will look forward to welcoming him again in the not too distance future.

The program ended with a showing of the '"Dartmouth Football Highlights for 1962," and, needless to say, this was an academy award film (at least to all of those present). Everyone "oohed" and "aahed" as the football team rolled over one opponent after another on its way to an undefeated season and capped a completely successful and entertaining afternoon for the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Cleveland.
