Over 100 alumni and wives gathered together February 8 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena to observe "Dartmouth-Laker" Night in honor of Rudy LaRusso '59, star forward of the Los Angeles Lakers. A pre-game cocktail party at the "Cove" was well attended by an enthusiastic group. The successful occasion was organized by GeneGivens '55 with the help of Pete Hawes '58,Dick Terzian '56, Charlie Schneider '57, and John Van de Kamp '56. Earlier in the season Rudy was presented a specially made Dartmouth warm-up jacket as a tribute to his success with the National Basketball Association.
Coach Bob Blackman was hosted before 130 alumni at a special luncheon in December. Bob spoke of Hanover, the football team, and then presented the film, "Football Highlights of 1962." Several prospective students were in touch with Coach Blackman while he was here. Ted Redington '07,Ed Redington '36, and Dick Redington '64 were in from Santa Barbara. Special thanks to Chuck Robinson '31 and Dick Hefler '36 for their help with this wonderful event.
Club President Don DesCombes '54 announced that this year's scholarship contributions would be in memory of RichardKimball '20 who was an active member of the Southern California Alumni Club.
