Did you know that the Class of '60 has virtually taken over the New York banking system. Well 'tis true. Gordon Haw is with the First National City Bank; Bill Langley,John Zipser, and Bordie Powers are with Manufacturer's Hanover Trust Co.; JohnAdams is with Bankers Trust; and JackPatterson is at the New York Trust Co. along with Dick Pomboy.
Or did you know that Mike McGinnis has just taken off a cast which he had to wear for 13 months. Michael was on a motorcycle journey back to Cambridge, where he is in his third year at Harvard Law School, when he and his machine went separate ways. Another of our classmates at the Harvard Law School, Lenny Schmolka, has recently been elected president of the Student Bar Association. Sounds like quite an honor, Lenny, keep up the good work. Roger Zissu, who is also at Harvard Law, will be going to work immediately after his graduation in June as a clerk for Judge Dooling, a Federal District Judge of New York. While we're lending tribute to the Crimson, here's a word that Larry Dingman is tearing up their geology graduate school and Quentin Faulkner is doing likewise in their graduate business school. CharlieFlickinger rounds out our representation at Harvard as a third year student in the medical school. Of more significance to "Flick" at the moment, however, is his marriage on February 23 to Agnes Dickel. Charlie always said that he needed someone who also had hill winds in their head, and Agnes - as a Green Mountain 1960 graduate - just fills the bill.
Nothing more romantic than a wedding in Vienna, so Reed Browning decided he'd have one. Reed, who is in Vienna studying history on a Fulbright, and Susan Lampley, who is also in Europe on a Fulbright (at the Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg) were married early in February in Vienna. Great tale for the grandchildren!! Roger Bentley and Jane Palminteri were married last September. Roger - now a happy married-student — is winding up his law degree at Cornell. Another wedding, which is a little tardy in being reported, is that of Jim Reinhardt and Kathleen Mansfield who were married last October. Jim is doing graduate work in the Architecture School at the University of California at Berkeley.
I know there are many who remember Johnny Bousom., John left our class to serve his military obligation, but has now finished his degree at Dartmouth and is working in sales for a Pittsburgh contractor. That's jolly good, John; to us a '60 you'll always be. Frank Burnap, who nobly put up with the hardships and perils of living in Hawaii for a year and a half, has returned to the mainland. Frank is enrolled at the University of Oregon, where he is working for his teaching certificate in history. Karl Mayer is untangling the mysteries of justice at Rutgers Law School, and making headlines galore with his project to investigate the legal right of coastal towns to sponsor beer parties on the beaches for the high school kids. Karl feels that such community projects provide youngsters with an excellent background for bridging the social gap between high school and college.
Migrating birds from the southland have brought us the news that jumping TomKirby has been promoted to first lieutenant in Uncle Sam's Army and is now assigned to duties as distribution branch chief in the XVIII Airborne Corps' adjutant general section in Fort Bragg, N. C. Tom went into the service in 1961 after Tuck School and earned his paratrooper wings at the jump school of the 82d Airborne Division at Bragg. Tom's living in the nearby city of Fayetteville, N. You'll all be pleased to hear that the Class of '60 was well represented in the recent Cuban crisis. Dave Petrie spent three months at Guantanamo Naval Base last summer with the Marine Corps; as a sideline to promoting the Alumni Fund Drive in Havana. Congratulations to Sandy Ingham who was recently named Editor-in-Chief of The Spokesman, the newspaper of South River. N. J. Whoever doesn't know that Framingham, Mass., is the nail capital of the world will be interested to hear of Rollie Booma's post as division manager of the Baker Nail Co. of Framingham. North of Chicago at Lake Forest College, BobBrusic is studying as a seminary intern sponsored by the Danforth Foundation. Also in pursuit of theology is Paul Quinlan at a Jesuit Seminary in Lenox, Mass.

They say that Jim Adler sets up a delightful "Old Fashioned" for anyone stopping of! in New York City. Jim is working as an accountant for the Compton Advertising Company. Or if your path takes you through Nashville, Chuck Cherry is there as a merchandise trainee for a department store. On down the road a piece in Memphis is Art Seessel at Seessel's Grocery Store as assistant manager. Out on the west coast, Bob Brown is working on a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California at La Jolla. Bob has been awarded a National Science Foundation Grant to pursue his studies. Howie Jelinek is out that way also, working as a research engineer for the Autonetics Corp. of Long Beach, and Gary Vandeweghe rounds out this trio with his endeavors at Stanford Law School
As one stops to dwell for a moment on those lovely memories of the College on the Hill (for instance the exhilaration associated with an 8:00 class on Monday morning, the prospect of a sixth weekend in a row without a date, or maybe some of those philosophical pearls gleaned from such great minds as "Fletcher" or "Clayton the Janitor") one's hand reaches kind of automatically to his hip pocket with the thought that I guess I'd better send along my wee contribution to the Alumni Fund." "Give now" and "let her know you cared enough."
