The year's end prompted lots of activity reports ranging from Peace Corps duty to having twins; so let's get on with the straight poop.
Nathan Witham has gone "to shay this about that with vigour" in the Dominican Republic with the Peace Corps, while KevinO'Sullivan's wife, Mary, presented Kevin with twin girls - Karin and Mary — in Norfolk, Va. Quite an effort on the part of both these young men. Bob Hill and Sue Nichols were married over the Christmas holidays in Richmond, Va. Mark Hinshaw served Bob as best man which added a nice garnish of Midwestern charm. Bob now has his M.S. in City Planning from Penn and is working for the Urban Renewal Authority of Philadelphia. Dave (Benny) Bond also made this Christmas a time to remember with his marriage to Elizabeth Parr on December 28 in Essex Fells, N. J. Both Dave and Elizabeth are candidates for the Ph.D. m economics from Yale, and if what they say about genetics is true, we'll be looking for a "young Benny" to surpass even our David's College Bowl skills in the years to come.
Seems that the Class of '6O is going to turn out its share of "medicine men." Here is the "info" on some of these promising young Caseys and Kildares. Tom Wood is at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Tommy Lanier is trying to lose his New England accent at the University of Virginia Medical School in Charlottesville. John Kirkpatrick - better known to all good Yankees as "Memphis" - has lived up to his handle and is thriving at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in none other than Memphis, Tenn. Conner Moore has earned membership in Alpha Omega Al-pha, Medical Honor Society, at Cornell Medical School in New York City. Conner had his first two years of training at the Dartmouth Medical School. Dale Boyse is at Wayne State University College of Medicine in Detroit, Mich., and rounding up the list is Sim Cantril beginning his third year of medicine at Harvard.
We'll bid a kind wish to Brad Lund who is teaching high school in Towson, Md. (outside of Baltimore). Gordon DeWitt has taken over as Assistant to the Business Manager for the Big Green and is living in Norwich. Pete Egan is a reporter for the Daily American; working and living in Rome, Italy. The pride of Delta Tau Delta, Ed Daumit, has Daumit Stores Inc. of St. Louis running smoothly in his new capacity as Vice President. Gary Griffin is working on a postgraduate degree in soil science at Rutgers. Bob Harrach is now a physicist with the National Bureau of Standards and is a Ph.D. candidate in the physics dept. of Colorado University in Boulder.
Ned Brown is back from "down under" and is working on a Ph.D. in geology at the University of California at Berkeley. Ned and his wife, Sonia, spent nearly two years in New Zealand at Otago University in Dunedin, while Ned was working on his Master's degree from that University. Ned and Sonia took full advantage of the best snow skiing in the Pacific while they were in New Zealand; using a trusty old British motorcycle and a dubiously acquired license-to-carry-double as their transport. I believe their experience was a marvelous one.
Early in December Skip Snyder handed the nation's military back over to Uncle Sam, took his wife Sally, by the hand and headed for Cincinnati to cast his fortune with the Procter and Gamble Corp. Before leaving, however, he gave explicit instructions to invite any member of our class (or any member of any Dartmouth class for that matter) to come stay with them. Cast aside any fears of intrusion or imposition, bring along the kids and the pets, excellent accommodations with running water, stay for a month or more.
Jim Pollard has nearly finished his degree from BU School of Theology with only one semester to go after this one. Dudley Smith married Juliana Buros on Nov. 17, in White Plains. N. Y. Dud is now working with Chubb and Son in New York. Erroll Paine and Claudia De Grass were married in Lawrence, Mass., late in October. Erroll and his young bride are living on Beacon Hill in Boston, while Erroll finishes his law degree at BU. Dave Haight completed his military obligation this past fall and is now working in the sales dept. for Tripp and Co. Inc. of New York. Brian Brigham is picking up a bit of foreign intrigue as a U. S. Naval lieutenant j.g. assigned to Morocco in North Africa.
Must mention in closing a note from ArtHill reporting from Fort Leonard Wood to say that the Ozark country is truly beautiful unless you have the misfortune of viewing it while standing in a pair of Army trousers.
