The pace of activity continues to be brisk in Chicago as President Bob Mortimer '47 and his executive committee firm up plans for a number of coming events designed to be of interest to all alumni and increase participation of all Dartmouth men in this area.
On Monday, November 4, Al Quirk '49 of the Admissions Office spoke to a special luncheon held at the Bull 'n Bear on the problems and methods of Admissions office and the Alumni associations in the continuing effort to recruit top prospects for the College.
The following week Ron Keenhold, Assistant Swimming Coach, dropped in at our regular luncheon and filled us in on the new pool facilities and the prospects for this year's team.
And while we're on the topic of luncheons we might mention that efforts are under way to locate a more suitable place for our weekly luncheons. An announcement in this regard should be forthcoming in the near future.
If you have not already made your reservation for the Christmas party to be held December 28 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Saddle and Cycle Club, do so right away. All indications are that it will be even more successful than last year with a good number of undergraduates lending youthful spirit to this festive occasion. Arrangements have been made with the club so that anyone wishing to stay for dinner following the dance may do so.
We also have assurances from the weatherman that the roads will be clear so that no one will have an excuse for missing the opportunity to see the Big Green in action on December 27 and 28 when they will play in the Milwaukee Holiday Basketball Tourney. Other teams participating are Wisconsin, Georgia Tech and Marquette.
Two other dates should be immediately circled on your calendar if they are not already so marked. First, the President's dinner will be held in Wilmette on February 25. And secondly, all alumni will want to show off a bit to their families, prospects or friends when the Glee Club appears at the Hinsdale High School on March 24. Proceeds of this event will benefit the scholarship fund.
